Earlier today, Longines announced the renewal of a long-term partnership that has united it with the French flat racing parent company France Galop since 2011.  The announcement was made at the brand’s first monobrand boutique in France, located at 3, rue de Sèvres in Paris, in the presence of Mr. Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice-President and Head of International Marketing at Longines, along with representatives from France Galop, including President Bertrand Bélinguier.

Longines is celebrating this milestone by placing the famous Prix de Diane Longines and Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe trophies on display in the boutique’s window.

The announcement was made at the brand’s monobrand boutique at 3, rue de Sèvres, in Paris, France.

“We are especially proud to be associated with France Galop,” says Juan-Carlos Capelli, Longines Vice-President and Head of International Marketing. “We wish to thank them for their valued collaboration in transforming these events into outstanding achievements in both sports and attendance year after year. The Prix de Diane Longines, for example, is the largest filly race in the world and the foremost symbol of elegance and glamour in the equestrian world. The event continues to attract an ever-increasing number of spectators. We are also delighted to renew the Prix Longines Future Rising Stars for promising young jockeys and, of course, the ‘Mademoiselle Diane par Longines’ Elegance Prize, recognizing the most elegant woman in attendance that day.”

Mr. Bertrand Bélinguier, France Galop President, adds: “Both France Galop and the Swiss watchmaking brand Longines share the same values of performance, elegance and tradition. These values have been on display since the 2011 Prix de Diane Longines, one of the most prestigious gallop racing events, highlighting both athletic performance and feminine elegance. France Galop is also pleased to continue benefiting from Longines’ expertise as the Official Timekeeper of the Longchamp, Chantilly and Deauville racetracks.  We are happy to announce our ongoing partnership for the coming years. Though this agreement, we hope to further the advancement of gallop racing.”

The partnership between Longines and France Galop is part of the Swiss watchmaking brand’s ongoing commitment to the equestrian world. Indeed, Longines has nurtured a passion for equestrian sports since 1878. That year, the brand began producing its first chronographs, including one model that featured an engraved jockey and his horse. Able to keep time to the nearest second, Longines time pieces were being used on racetracks as early as 1881 and soon became extremely popular among jockeys and racing enthusiasts.
