Richard Mille RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago: The Ultimate Fusion of Cycling and Haute Horlogerie
This week, Richard Mille strengthened its connection to professional cycling with the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago, a limited edition of just 50 watches developed alongside legendary Italian bicycle maker Colnago.
Released earlier this week, the new RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago from Richard Mille transforms the architecture of a racing bicycle into an ultra-light tourbillon, blending advanced materials, skeletonized engineering, and Italian cycling heritage in a limited edition of just 50 pieces.
Developed in collaboration with legendary Italian bicycle maker Colnago and inspired by the bike maker’s racing bicycles, the RM 64-01 translates Colnago’s trademark performance engineering into haute horlogerie through a new movement architecture that showcases Richard Mille's expertise in skeletonized mechanics and advanced composite materials.
For collectors of Richard Mille watches and Swiss luxury sports watches, the new RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago offers a distinctive blend of technical innovation, bold design, and cycling-inspired engineering.

Two Icons, One Shared Philosophy
Since its founding in 2001, Richard Mille has built its reputation by combining cutting-edge engineering with unconventional watchmaking. Rather than following traditional Swiss luxury aesthetics, the brand has consistently drawn technical inspiration from Formula 1, aviation, sailing, tennis, and cycling.
Founded in 1954 by Ernesto Colnago, the Italian bicycle manufacturer is revered for producing some of cycling’s most iconic racing bicycles. Known for pioneering lightweight frame construction and innovative carbon-fiber technology, Colnago has long balanced engineering excellence with Italian craftsmanship – qualities that closely mirror Richard Mille’s own philosophy.
The RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago represents the first watch jointly developed with Colnago’s design team, creating a genuine dialogue between two engineering disciplines.
Built Like a Championship Racing Machine
At the heart of the watch is the new RM 64-01 manual-winding tourbillon movement, developed around three fundamental principles: lightness, transparency, and structural volume.
Comprising 274 individual components, the movement adopts an openworked construction that intentionally resembles the tubular framework of a racing bicycle. Its architecture recalls the celebrated RM 012 Tourbillon while introducing new visual references inspired by Colnago’s frame designs.
The skeletonized Grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges undergo extensive finishing processes, including microblasting, hand-polished beveling, and black and grey PVD coating. The result is exceptional rigidity combined with minimal weight.
A fast-rotating barrel provides approximately 65 hours of power reserve while remaining visually balanced opposite the variable-inertia tourbillon. Positioned respectively at one o’clock and seven o’clock, these elements evoke the appearance of a bicycle drivetrain.
The upper titanium bridges feature a distinctive star-shaped geometry inspired by Colnago’s famous Master bicycle frames of the 1980s, whose unique tubing increased torsional rigidity without adding unnecessary weight.
Inspired by the Geometry of Victory
Rather than relying on a conventional dial, the RM 64-01 makes its movement the primary visual element.
The skeletonized construction creates exceptional transparency, enabling each mechanical component to contribute to the overall aesthetic. Every bridge, gear, and wheel forms part of an architectural composition inspired by high-performance bicycles.
The titanium bridges receive white lacquer before being hand-painted in azure blue and 5N red gold, reproducing the signature colors of the modern Colnago C68 bicycle. Microblasted titanium hub caps finished in blue lacquer further reinforce the cycling inspiration.
Richard Mille also developed a unique handset specifically for this model. The golden hands mimic the appearance of bicycle crank arms, subtly extending the sporting theme without compromising legibility.
The overall design remains remarkably minimalist despite the movement's complexity, allowing negative space and structural geometry to define the watch's identity. The result is a watch that is exceedingly pleasant to look at.
Lightweight Performance, Luxury Execution
The RM 64-01 features a 43.21mm × 49.94mm × 14.23mm tonneau-shaped case engineered from White Quartz TPT, one of Richard Mille’s signature composite materials known for exceptional rigidity, low weight, and impact resistance.
Making its debut on this model is Azure Blue Quartz TPT, developed exclusively for the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago. Incorporated into the bezel, the new material adds both visual distinction and technical performance.
Another notable first is the integration of 5N red gold into the visual identity of a Richard Mille sports watch. The precious metal appears on the flange, crown accents, and several movement components, creating a sophisticated contrast with the white and blue composite materials.
The Quartz TPT crown cap features microblasted, satin-finished, and polished surfaces and is decorated with a lacquered version of Colnago’s iconic Ace of Clubs emblem.
The combination of composite materials, titanium, and precious metal demonstrates Richard Mille’s ability to unite lightweight engineering with luxury finishing.
A Champion Joins the Richard Mille Family
Richard Mille has also strengthened its presence in professional cycling by officially welcoming four-time Tour de France champion and 2024 Triple Crown winner Tadej Pogačar as a brand partner (joining fellow cyclists Mathieu van der Poel and Mark Cavendish). Already linked through the brand’s partnership with UAE Team Emirates since 2021, the collaboration formalizes a relationship built on shared values of precision, lightweight engineering, endurance, and performance.
Throughout many of his recent victories, Pogačar has worn the RM 67-02 Automatic Extra Flat, a model designed for elite athletes, with exceptional lightness, ergonomics, and shock resistance. Together with the launch of the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago, the partnership further underscores Richard Mille’s growing commitment to the highest level of competitive cycling.
The watch is available exclusively through Richard Mille boutiques and selected authorized retailers worldwide. For more information, please visit the Richard Mille website.
