The Longines Irish Champions Weekend
The Longines Irish Champions Weekend
Longines, Swiss watchmaker since 1832, was proud to be for the very first year Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the newly named Longines Irish Champions Weekend. This event took place on Ireland’s two premier racecourses, the Curragh and Leopardstown racecourses. In addition to providing this two-day meeting with its timekeeping expertise, the brand also presented on both days the Longines Prize for Elegance, rewarding the most elegant lady and gent in attendance.
Earlier this year, Longines signed a long-term partnership that saw the brand become the Title Partner of the newly-named Longines Irish Champions Weekend as well as Official Timekeeper for the Leopardstown and Curragh racecourses, which together host 42 race meetings, including all the Irish Classics. As a result, Longines has now clocks and chronometers at both racecourses throughout the whole season, which provide racegoers and TV audiences with an accurate record of the times of all flat races.
The Longines Irish Champions Weekend, rapidly establishing itself as one of the leading flat racing events in the world, was comprised of five Group 1 races, and featured the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, won by Frankie Dettori on Golden Horn and the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger at the Curragh, claimed by Joseph O'Brien on Order of St George. Longines rewarded winning owners, trainers and jockeys of these two prestigious races with Longines watches.
The Swiss watch brand celebrated the refined elegance of the Longines Irish Champions Weekend with the Conquest Classic Moonphase collection, the Official Watch of the event. The sophistication of this model, including a moon-phase display, makes it an eminently refined timepiece and echoes the excellence and elegance of the stars of the equestrian universe. This line is dedicated to equestrian sports enthusiasts who are not willing to compromise on elegance.
At both racecourses over the Longines Irish Champions Weekend, Longines also presented the Longines Prize of Elegance and rewarded the most elegant lady and gent of each day with elegant watches.
