Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Ceramic Clous de Paris

Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Ceramic Clous de Paris

The Grande Seconde collection redefines contemporary watchmaking with new timepieces blending strength of character and purity of lines. The brand’s iconic model has been re-imagined in a white ceramic version and two black versions with a “clous de Paris” finish – each limited to 28 pieces – for a novel interpretation of the collection.

The figure 8, the symbol of Jaquet Droz, is revisited in a combination of Roman and Arabic numerals, and accentuated by a dial featuring a “clous de Paris” motif. This type of guilloché work entails a series of geometric engravings recalling small pyramidal nails. Often found on classic-style watches, here it is brought to the forefront for a richly textured dial, which lends the timepiece a unique sense of character.

The fabric strap brings to mind “clous de Paris” motifs, while the watch’s monochrome style infuses it with an aura of simplicity, highlighting the poetry of these timepieces, whose power reserve of 68 hours makes them perfect daily companions.  The Grande Seconde Power Reserve Black Ceramic model displays this feature via a golden-color scale in perfect harmony with the18K red gold hours, minutes and seconds hands. The latter’s sparkle is beautifully enhanced by the contrasting black or white dial and red gold screws and crown, in the case of the white version.

The ceramic that makes up the case and dial counter – incredibly resistant and practically scratch proof – maintains its luster and color over time, for a watch synonymous with timelessness. Unique in design and exuding enduring elegance, each model is authenticated by an individual number engraved on the case back – the final detail ensuring the rigorous standards and ultimate singularity of every timepiece, in perfect tribute to each passing moment.
