CIGA Design Mount Everest Homage Edition

On May 29, 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest. "It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves," said Edmund Hillary, a quote that continues to inspire us. In 2023, on the 70th anniversary of the first human ascent of Mount Everest, CIGA Design introduces a Mount Everest-themed wristwatch, paying tribute to those who have climbed the mountain and those who remain on its slopes, as well as honoring the fearless spirit of human exploration.

The central flying tourbillon represents the relentless spirit of human exploration in the face of the unknown.

The hour and minute hands resemble ice axes used by mountaineers, with four flags on the minute hand, accurately depicting the scene when Tenzing Norgay first raised the flag on top of Mount Everest with an ice axe.

The dial is made from real rocks found at the foot of Mount Everest. To select these rocks, CIGA Design's designers personally visited a Mount Everest base camp located less than 20 kilometers away from the mountain, at an altitude of over 5,200 meters.

The case is made of titanium alloy, providing durability, lightweightness, and corrosion resistance. To preserve the natural purity of the rock surface, twelve hour markers are integrated into the structure of the case, achieving a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetics.

The overall design features a lug-less style, showcasing a contemporary and minimalist approach.The strap is made of fluororubber, accurately replicating the texture of real rocks through high-precision molds, offering a skin-friendly, comfortable, and durable wearing experience.

Throughout the design and production process of this timepiece, CIGA Design has made every effort to use materials and techniques that minimize harm to the environment.
