TAG Heuer Ambassador Sébastien Ogier becomes FIA World Rally Champion!

Thanks to his result at the French Rally on October 6th, French driver Sébastien Ogier has now a sufficient lead to ensure finishing WRC season at the first place, thus becomes FIA World Rally Champion for the first time in his career.

A Perfect Season
6 wins, 2 second places and 9 power stages scored so far: Sébastien is realizing almost a perfect 2013 season with his co-driver Julien Ingrassia on their Volkswagen Polo WRC. He’s even gaining the title whereas there are still almost 3 rallies to race. At the dawn of the French rally, Sébastien finished 3rd of the Power Stage, ensuring him to become 2013 WRC Champion.
For his 5th season in WRC, the first one with Volkswagen, the French rally driver showed an impressive domination, giving him the occasion to achieve his goal: win the World Championship title.

A fruitful partnership with TAG Heuer
TAG Heuer ambassador for eyewear & watches for 3 years, Sébastien Ogier wears all year long TAG Heuer products at his wrist (TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887 chronograph) and on his nose (TAG Heuer LRS Eyewear). Over these first years of partnership, Sébastien Ogier took also part to the development of some technical eyewear that can be worn upon certain weather conditions he is enduring during WRC season (orange glasses for “white days” or Night Vision glasses for night stages).

In 2013, apart from his amazing season in WRC, he also took part to the Porsche Supercup Monaco race, over the F1 Grand-Prix week-end. For that occasion, Sébastien drove a fully TAG Heuer branded car to celebrate the 50 years anniversary of TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph.

“I’d like to congratulate Sébastien for his World Champion title! At TAG Heuer, we are really proud to partner with him for the last three years. He’s achieving a great season and demonstrates the values we are sharing together: performance & passion!”, said Stéphane Linder, President & CEO of TAG Heuer.

Note: Sébastien Ogier will officially become FIA World Rally Champion once FIA official results will be released
