Speake-Marin launch exclusively in the UK at Harrods

Speake-Marin is both proud and delighted to announce the opening of their new retail partner in London; the prestigious Harrods on March 30th.

Speake-Marin is an independent brand founded in Switzerland in 2002 by passionate English watchmaker Peter Speake-Marin. His consummate skill and vision have made Speake-Marin’s timepieces technically superlative and aesthetically distinctive.

Peter Speake-Marin was born Peter Speake in 1968 in Essex, England. He began his horological education at Hackney Technical College in London in 1985 and then continued his studies at WOSTEP, the prestigious Swiss watchmaking school in Neuchâtel. Having completed the WOSTEP course, Peter returned to England. Later, he was employed by Somlo Antiques in the Piccadilly Arcade, London where he was tasked with establishing the watch restoration department of this prestigious antiques house. After seven years at Somlo’s restoring antique and vintage watches, he moved to Le Locle, Switzerland where he worked for Renaud & Papi to help develop and build high-end complications as well as train young watchmakers.

In his spare time, Peter began acquiring his own machinery and constructed by hand a tourbillon pocket watch and became a member of the prestigious Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI). As an independent, he has collaborated as a watchmaker, designer and consultant with many companies including Harry Winston, MB&F and Maîtres du Temps. Since the beginning of 2008 he has channelled his time exclusively into Speake-Marin.

The Speake-Marin collection has grown to encompass complications including jumping hours, perpetual calendars, tourbillons and minute repeaters, with fired-enamel, semi-skeletonised, hand- engraved, and multi-level dials.

On the 30th March, Speake-Marin launched its first and only point of sale in the United Kingdom, exclusively at Harrods, London.

Collections such as the J-Class, with the popular ‘Resilience’ and ‘Serpent Calendar’, alongside the Spirit and the Mystery Cabinet collection, will be available in the Fine Watch Room on the Ground Floor.
