Roger Dubuis joins the fine watchmaking elite congregated in Hong Kong from September 25-28 for WATCHES&WONDERS

Roger Dubuis is delighted to announce its participation in the first Asia Haute Horlogerie Exhibition, WATCHES&WONDERS.

Running from September 25th through 28th 2013 in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, the exclusive new trade show will feature the latest creations from the elite of fine watchmakers, along with a glimpse of their specific values and individual histories.

Roger Dubuis is delighted to be travelling to Hong Kong to meet the many Fine Watchmaking aficionados in this part of the world.

At WATCHES&WONDERS 2013, the Crowned Eagle and Key will dominate the Roger Dubuis booth, vividly evoking the Poinçon de Genève – the prestigious quality hallmark certifying 100% of the timepieces from the Manufacture.
This noble and emblematic creature embodying the highest standards of horology thus symbolically meets Asia in this Year of the Snake.

The fascinating décor, inspired by the codes of chivalry and embodying a world of expertise as well as controlled power, is an invitation to embrace the incredible universe of Roger Dubuis.

The show will also comprise an area dedicated to a wide range of skills relating to the field of Fine Watchmaking, including demonstrations of the countless expressions of know-how and expertise that go into crafting such timepieces. It will also feature “The Mastery of Time”, a fascinating exhibit tracing the history of timekeeping through the ages.

Commenting on the event, the CEO of Roger Dubuis Jean-Marc Pontroué enthuses: “We are thrilled to be part of this platform for culture and learning. Held in a strategic location for the fast-growing Asian markets, this is a great opportunity to strengthen ties and foster exchanges with connoisseurs, collectors and enthusiasts in this part of the world. As is the case with our participation in other important trade events held on various continents, this geographical proximity will symbolise our wish to effectively serve and remain close to the customers, journalists and retailers who help propagate and nurture the global reputation of our Manufacture.”

Stellar models on show

Among the flagship creations launched by Roger Dubuis in 2013 and on display at WATCHES&WONDERS, the pink gold Excalibur Quatuor glows with a unique warmth and radiance providing a particularly noble expression of Excalibur’s world of the Warrior.

Stemming from seven years of Research & Development sparked by the Manufacture’s 2005 invention of the Double Flying Tourbillon, initiating a differential-based approach to handling the effects of gravity, this fascinating model comprises four sprung balances generating an impressive frequency of 16 Hz and thus instantly compensating for gravity-induced variations in rate. Also equipped with five differentials serving to provide an average of the positions and thus ensuring uncompromising accuracy, the RD101 movement features a distinctive (patent pending) power-reserve mechanism based on twin crescents and providing a more precise, inventive and intuitive display of this vital information.

Housed within the gleaming pink gold Excalibur case with its impressively rounded curves, fluted bezel, crown guard and triple-horn strap attachment, the spectacularly airy and light skeletonworked calibre provides an endlessly fascinating vision.

Velvet, the Roger Dubuis ladies’ collection symbolising the world of the Diva, shines especially brightly in 2013 with exquisite High Jewellery versions including a sparkling interpretation paved in baguette-cut diamonds. Vividly evoking a wealth of charm, poetry and luxury, this dazzlingly feminine model also comprises the inimitable Velvet dash of daring spirit that brings new energy to watchmaking.

Featuring the collection’s signature split-level dial, elongated Roman numerals and flowing lugs seamlessly integrating the dainty round/barrel-shaped trompe l’oeil 36 mm case with the silky-smooth strap, this High Jewellery creation beats to the steady tune of the RD821 mechanical self-winding movement. A total of 304 diamonds, meticulously selected in a wide variety of sizes and in baguette, brilliant and cushion cuts, are deftly set over the case, strap attachments and even folding clasp using the brilliant invisible or blind setting technique, compose a 13.16-carat visual symphony.

Like all timepieces from the Manufacture, these standout creations bear the prestigious Poinçon de Genève that is a much sought-after guarantee of exclusiveness, performance, provenance, expertise and durability. Roger Dubuis is the only Fine Watchmaking manufacturer to apply this unique quality hallmark to its entire production.

Roger Dubuis looks forward to celebrating this first edition of WATCHES&WONDERS and to welcoming visitors to explore its incredible universe – composed of several fascinating worlds embodied in a range of collections showcased in full within its three magnificent Hong Kong boutiques located at Heritage 1881, Pacific Place and The Peninsula.
