Swiss watchmaker Rado launches new Rado Star Prize U.S. in collaboration with NYCxDESIGN and WantedDesign

This will be the third year of Rado’s design award, continuing their strong support of the arts and young talent

Design-driven Swiss watchmaker Rado is pleased to announce its continued sponsorship as the Official Watch Sponsor of NYCxDESIGN, New York City's celebration of global design. As part of NYCxDESIGN, Rado will work with WantedDesign, a platform dedicated to promoting design with two showcases, to launch the 3rd U.S. edition of the Rado Star Prize, which is held internationally to promote the work of upcoming designers.

This year’s U.S. edition of the Rado Star Prize will focus on the concept of “Design Inspired by Nature”- a theme that hopes to explore the influence nature can have on design. Rado’s continued collaboration with NYCxDESIGN and WantedDesign for the 2018 edition also marks the call for entries for the competition, which began officially on the Rado Star Prize U.S. website (www.rado.com/radostarprize-us) on January 11, 2018. The closing date for entries is March 9, 2018.

Ten finalists and one winner of the Rado Star Prize U.S. 2018 will be selected by a specialist jury comprising NYCxDESIGN participants, WantedDesign, Rado and members of the design and watch community. The winner will receive $5,000 in prize money to fund the production of their design concept as well as a Rado True Thinline timepiece.

In addition to this special prize, all finalists will have the opportunity to display their concepts at WantedDesign Manhattan during NYCxDESIGN taking place in May 2018. An additional prix du public winner, selected through online voting, will also have the opportunity to showcase during NYCxDESIGN and will also receive this beautiful Rado timepiece.
