THE TURBINE PILOT COLLECTION WELCOMES THE LATEST PERRELET CREATION: THE TURBINE PILOT GRAND RAID

THE TURBINE PILOT COLLECTION WELCOMES THE LATEST PERRELET CREATION: THE TURBINE PILOT GRAND RAID

Renowned for its automatic timepieces, Swiss watch Manufacture Perrelet distinguishes itself through highly original moving dials that are powered by its patented "Double Rotor" technology—now an identifying feature of the brand.

In 2009, Perrelet launched the iconic "Turbine" model based on the same technology. Today, the Turbine continues to astound customers with its different variations and expressions.

The many interpretations of the Turbine watches include the three-hand version, the diver's watch, the women's, GMT and chronograph models, and a grand complication version called the Turbillon (a combination of the Turbine and the tourbillon). A version intended for aeronautic enthusiasts also seemed like an essential addition. In 2014, Perrelet created the Turbine Pilot collection in tribute to the world of aviation. Like all fine watchmaking models, this collection combines technical skill with precision, passion and daring.

The Turbine Pilot model, which has already undergone various transformations to cater to current trends, is now available in the "Grand Raid" version, which is limited to 100 timepieces and pairs classic black with warm beige.

Its exclusive design could easily have been produced by a jet-engine design agency or a cutting- edge technological laboratory. But in reality, the Turbine collection was born from the sketches and technical research of the specialist watchmaking engineers working in our ateliers, driven by a spirit of innovation and a desire to push back the boundaries of the watchmaking world.

Typical of a Turbine Pilot model, this timepiece couples the turbine with a circular slide-rule, a technical feature that gives pilot's watches their instantly recognizable style.

The aeronautical slide-rule is a circular analog calculation instrument based on the traditional slide-rule. It is composed of several concentric circles marked with different graduated scales, and is designed as a flight-desk instrument to quickly assist with numerical operations, thus enabling a pilot to convert data between various measurement systems.

The design of the Turbine Grand Raid is imbued with a sporty, masculine feel. Its generously sized black PVD-coated steel case, measuring 48 mm in diameter and 13.65 mm thick, is equipped with the P-331 Perrelet Manufacture automatic movement. Produced in-house in our workshops, this movement offers a power reserve of 42 hours and is water-resistant to 5 ATM. The sapphire crystal case back enables the wearer to admire the finely decorated movement, which features an oscillating weight that has been personalized with the Perrelet logo.

Its dial, comprised of several elements, is a true technical feat. The black under-dial with beige streaks is revealed when the turbine, formed of 12 anodized aluminum blades, begins to move. The five tungsten counterweights beneath the blades ensure that the Turbine rotates with even the slightest movement of the wrist. As soon as it starts to turn, the turbine presents its owner with a fascinating optical effect and a sequence of shifting colors. Beyond this playful aspect, the Turbine model is a collection of technical components that requires a high standard of mastery in its assembly in order to achieve a perfectly balanced result and optimal functioning.

To ensure excellent legibility in any light conditions, the hands, the Arabic numerals 3-6-9-12, and the hour-markers applied to the sapphire crystal are all in luminescent beige—a color chosen in harmony with the streaks adorning the under-dial.

The bidirectional inner dial ring is activated by the crown at 3 o'clock, while the time can be set using the crown integrated into the case at 9 o'clock.

The Turbine Pilot Grand Raid is equipped with a beige nylon strap featuring a steel folding buckle with black PVD coating.

Ideal for aviation enthusiasts, sports watch lovers or those simply looking for an original timepiece, the Turbine Grand Raid is the latest must-have addition to the Perrelet collection.
