Bold Dial Colors Put Luminox’s Pacific Diver 3120 Stealth Series on the Radar
While still “stealthy,” these cool (nearly) all-black executions are excellent examples as to why Luminox is the preferred watch choice of SEAL teams, rescue squads, and adventurers, with a little bold color merely adding to their mil-spec mystique.
The last time we took an exhaustive look at one of Luminox’s Pacific Diver models, we focused on 2023’s special, very colorful limited edition “Thank You For Your Service” Pacific Diver 3120. It boldly continued the brand’s affinity with not just obvious heroes, but also the “everyday” heroes in life. While technical and tough, you certainly wouldn’t describe the watch’s purple presentation as “stealth.”
Today, with a new line of black, 200-meter water resistance-rated 44mm Pacific Diver Stealth timepieces, even Luminox is tagging them with the phrase “stealth-driven style.” That is all due to the brilliant dial colors the line sports: vivid shimmering red, deep oceanic blue, and rich emerald green. And that is perfectly fair game, in our book. The sunray-finished dials bring a degree of elegance and sophistication to a technical dive watch that can still certainly be described as “bad ass.”
Techical Specs, Colorful Fun
Black, Luminox-embossed rubber straps (which are cut to fit) join chunky black IP-coated stainless steel cases, black screw-down crowns, and equally black unidirectional dive bezels (crafted of Carbonox, a carbon compound that delivers the durability of steel at a much lighter weight) as a dark camouflage that frames the eye-catching dials.
On all dials, a combination of illuminated hands and hour indices, via Luminox’s signature Light Technology scheme that provides a constant glow for up to 25 years in low light and totally dark conditions, takes over for the pop of the dial colors when the sun sets.
With a sunray emerald dial, the new dive watch takes on an almost racetrack-ready appearance. The version in deep ocean blue draws a natural line to the undersea nature of the watch, while the crimson dial version could more than pass muster at an evening soiree after a harrowing dive adventure. All three carry a reliable Swiss-made Ronda 515 quartz movement, delivering a dependable, capable workhorse dive timepiece with a dash of most welcome panache.
While the bold dials and Light Technology illumination might give you away on a serious covert night operation, there are plenty of instances I can think of when standing out at night is decidedly on-mission.
