TAG Heuer Partners with RUSH movie in Japan for Première Event and Boutique Exclusive Talk Show
The Academy Award® Winning director Ron Howard joined by key media partners at TAG Heuer’s flagship boutique in Ginza for an exclusive cocktail party and talk show : “TAG Heuer Special Night”.
The acclaimed Hollywood movie director was visiting Tokyo at the occasion of launch in Japan of his latest film “RUSH” starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl. The luxury Swiss watch brand partnered with the production team to recreate the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing.
Japanese actress and singer Sumire was the hostess of the talk show and approached with Ron Howard some "behind-the-scene" secrets and impressions about Japan.
Ron Howard, sporting his favorite TAG Heuer watch Carrera 1887, declared “To make this film RUSH, I wanted to describe legendary rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt in 1976 F1 Grand Prix season by accurately recreating the glamorous golden age of Formula 1 in the 1970s. To do so, supports from various brands, from formula car to dresses, were essential, and TAG Heuer is one of the brands which helped my film making the most accurate.”
At the end of the talk show, Sumire (wearing a TAG Heuer Formula 1 Ladies ’watch) presented TAG Heuer Carrera “Fuji Speedway” special limited edition to Ron Howard, as a commemoration of the last scene of the film.
“It was risky to shoot in the rain, however, at the same time, it was a very special experience.”, said Ron Howard. “Filming Fuji Speedway was quite cinematic as it is located just under Mount Fuji. We also wanted to pay tribute to Akira Kurosawa's genius and got inspired by his amazing, unique way of filming to shoot this final Fuji Speedway scene, making it quite dramatic.”
‘It is a great honor to welcome Mr Howard in our TAG Heuer flagship boutique‘Espace Ginza’” said TAG Heuer General Manager in Japan, Antoine Pin during his welcoming remarks to guests.
“TAG Heuer, Official Timekeeper of Ferrari throughout the 1970s, partnered with the makers of Rush to accurately recreate the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing. Last year we have celebrated 50 years of Carrera, the watch named after a famous car race, and we have started the year with RUSH. We feel like we have the pole position to start the New Year.”
“RUSH” will be in cinemas in Japan on 7 February.
