Mido x Red Bull Cliff Diving – A Partnership Of Extreme Precision

Created in 1944, the Ocean Star collection of timepieces is celebrating its 75th anniversary! To celebrate this event, Mido has signed a partnership with the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, the world’s most prestigious cliff diving competition. The Swiss watchmaking brand and the sporting event share the same passion and the same ambitions: to surpass themselves and innovate continually to achieve perfection. The athletes Jonathan Paredes of Mexico and the Italian Alessandro De Rose, two great names in this breath taking discipline, are joining Mido as Friends of the Brand. Superlative in every way, the Ocean Star Diver 600 was chosen by Mido to symbolise this partnership of extreme precision, performance, and pure lines.

Swiss brand Mido has been a global benchmark in mechanical watchmaking for a century. Cutting-edge technology, automatic movements renowned for their excellence, and high-quality materials are the three pillars on which the brand's unique expertise rests. In addition, the refined lines of Mido timepieces endow them with a resolutely timeless design.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series – The best cliff divers on the planet

Since 2009, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series has provided a platform for aesthetic free-falls and dives of ever growing complexity, spotlighting the sport’s finest athletes as well as the most promising talents and in 2014 it introduced a Women’s World Series. In its 11th season, the sport's best athletes will once again leap, twist and somersault from heights of up to 27m at speeds in excess of 85km/h with no protection, except their concentration, skill and physical control during seven demanding competitions around the world.

The Ocean Star Diver 600 – Superlative in every way

Extreme precision, performance, and pure aesthetics: Mido and Red Bull Cliff Diving were made for each other. The watchmaking brand and the sporting event share the same passion and the same ambitions: to surpass themselves and innovate continually to achieve perfection. Mido's Ocean Star Diver 600 epitomises these values. Superlative in every way, this extraordinary diving watch combines high precision and unfailing reliability. This ISO 6425-certified model is water-resistant up to a pressure of 60 bars (600 m / 1968 ft.) and is equipped with a helium valve. Its robust case is fitted with a ceramic ring whose numerals, engraved onto the bezel, are filled with Super-LumiNova Grade X®: an innovation that enables diving time to be read with extreme accuracy, whatever the visibility conditions. The heart of this exceptional model is a distillation of watchmaking innovations: the Calibre 80, a COSC-certified chronometer movement with a silicon balance-spring, combines exceptional autonomy of up to 80 hours of power reserve with extraordinary accuracy and shock-resistance.

Mido is delighted to team up with Red Bull Cliff Diving and partner two major international athletes: Jonathan Paredes from Mexico and Alessandro De Rose from Italy, who have now become Friends of the Brand. The perfect resonance between the event's values and those of the Swiss brand led Mido to sign this sporting partnership.

Franz Linder, President of Mido, is delighted with the partnership: “We are very pleased to be the Official Performance Partner of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2019. Cliff diving requires extreme precision and exceptional performance: skills that are perfectly in line with Mido's values and watches.”
