Micro-painting on a puzzle dial: A premiere in métiers d’art to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

When it created the puzzle dial, Louis Moinet elevated artistry in watchmaking to new heights. The puzzle, which required rare and valuable skills to assemble, brings to life a legendary creature and makes this timepiece a unique work of art.

Part of this quest for perfection involves laying out the puzzle itself on four different levels, which lets one admire how the 81 pieces interlock. To ensure perfect visual flow, the artist must first take the puzzle apart and paint the edges of each piece. Then, with great care, the pieces are replaced to create the dial. The SAVANNA TOURBILLON DRAGON demonstrates how artisanal and artistic skills can be boldly applied to create new and fascinating works.
