Longines European Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2016

Longines had the honor of being the Title Partner, the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of the Longines European Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2016, which took place in Switzerland’s capital Bern, the home region of the Swiss watchmaker, from 25 May to 5 June 2016. During the competition, Longines presented an elegant Longines watch to Great Britain’s Rebecca Downie and Russia’s David Belyavskiy, the winners of the Longines Prize for Elegance. Both athletes standed out by the elegance of their performance at the Senior Apparatus Finals.

Longines was associated with the Longines European Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships held from 25 May to 5 June 2016 in the capital of Switzerland and the brand’s home region, Bern. Longines presented the Longines Prize for Elegance to Rebecca Downie (GB) and David Belyavskiy (RU) who took part in the senior apparatus finals showing greatest elegance and charisma.

Besides, the Swiss watch brand would like to congratulate its Longines Ambassador of Elegance Giulia Steingruber who demonstrated once again great results after having gathered two gold medals in vault and floor.

These 2016 European championships were the perfect occasion to discover the Official Watch, which belongs to the Longines DolceVita collection, representing contemporary elegance of the Longines watchmaking brand worldwide. The timepiece is a lady model, cased in steel, decorated with diamonds and featuring a silver-coloured “flinqué” dial adorned with painted Roman numerals.

Longines first became involved in gymnastics in 1912, when it launched an innovative electro-mechanical timing system. For over twenty years the brand has been the official partner and timekeeper for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions organised by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), of which the brand is also the Official Partner. At these events, as well as during the Longines European Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Longines provides the necessary infrastructure and personnel for calculating times, presenting scores, processing data (start lists, results, medals) and displaying it on the results screens, on the commentators’ information system as well as transmitting it to the television companies that are covering the competitions.
