The Dubai World Cup: Hawkbill steals the limelight in the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic race

The Swiss watch brand Longines was proud to take part today in the iconic Dubai World Cup race day, marking the conclusion of the Dubai World Cup Festival, as its Official Partner and Timekeeper.

The eponymous race was claimed by Thunder Snow ridden by Christophe Soumillon, while the day’s major turf race, the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, was won by Hawkbill led by William Buick. During the race day, the brand also had the pleasure to welcome its Ambassador of Elegance Chi Ling Lin, who presented the Longines Prize for Elegance to the lady attendee with the most stylish look. The Dubai World Cup was the perfect occasion for Longines to officially launch in the Middle East the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” model, representing a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance.

The Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, of which Longines is the Official Timekeeper, is one of the world’s top global venues of thoroughbred racing. As unique as it is prestigious, the Dubai World Cup Carnival hosts a dozen race days from January to the end of March. It closes with the Dubai World Cup, which sees nine races take place during that day, culminating with the eponymous race, claimed this year by Thunder Snow led by Christophe Soumillon.

This feature race was preceded notably by the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, the most important turf race of the day, won by Hawkbill ridden by William Buick. The Swiss watch brand, represented by Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President and Head of International Marketing and Patrick Aoun, Brand Manager for Longines Middle East, was proud to reward the winning connections of the race with elegant Longines timepieces.

A highly anticipated event for the highest level of racing fans, the Dubai World Cup is also distinguished by its elegant attendance. In this privileged setting, Longines Ambassador of Elegance Chi Ling Lin presented the Longines Prize for Elegance, in the form of a beautiful Longines timepiece, to the female attendee with the most stylish look.

Earlier that day, Chi Ling Lin took part in the inauguration of Longines’ new boutique located at Mall of Emirates, where the brand presented its Record collection. In the company’s purest watchmaking tradition, these chronometer-certified models combine classic elegance and excellence, aspiring to become the spearheads of the brand.
