Amazing 2016 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping final in Gothenburg

On Monday 28 March 2016, the competitors offered an amazing show at the 2016 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final in Gothenburg. For their remarkable performance, the three finalists received an elegant watch from the Swiss watch brand Longines, which was the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the final.

The Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final returned in Gothenburg, Sweden, where its very first edition was held in 1979. Once again, the world’s best riders and horses offered the spectators an exciting and unique show. The final’s last round took place on Monday 28 March and saw Steve Guerdat on Corbinian clinch the title of world’s best rider for the second consecutive time.  Harrie Smolders earned the second place with Emerald N.O.P. and Daniel Deusser on Cornet d’Amour finished third. To honour the finalists’ outstanding performance, the Swiss watchmaker Longines, which was the Official Partner, Timekeeper and Watch of the competition, awarded them an elegant Longines watch.

On the occasion of the 2016 final edition, the spectators of the show could discover the Official Watch, which was a lady model of the Longines DolceVita collection, representing the brand’s contemporary elegance all around the world. The watch cased in stainless steel displays a “flinqué” dial adorned with diamonds and blue painted Roman numerals.

The partnership between Longines and the FEI reinforces the traditional and long-lasting commitment of the Swiss watchmaker in equestrian sports. As part of this partnership, Longines is lending its name to the FEI world ranking for riders participating in the show jumping trials: the Longines Rankings. The brand is the Official Partner of three series of the Longines FEI World CupTM Jumping, along with the Longines FEI World CupTM Jumping Final: the Western European League, the Chinese League and the North American League.

Longines’ commitment to equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when the brand produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. In 1912, the company partnered for the first time with an international show jumping competition in Portugal. Today, along with show jumping, Longines is an active partner in flat racing, eventing, endurance, driving and dressage. In these disciplines, Longines is the Official Partner, the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of international institutions, events, races and competitions. Elegance, Performance and Tradition are values that both equestrian sports and Longines share, which strengthen the profound bounds that the brand has been developing with the equestrian world for more than a century.
