Oktopus Double Date Carbon Green

Oktopus Double Date Carbon Green

New Year; new you; new Oktopus. Reimagine your choice of wrist-wear.

Linde Werdelin is kicking off 2015 with a sporty and refreshing take on the Oktopus. The new addition, Oktopus Double Date Carbon – Green, featuring champagne gold detailing, revitalises the distinguished family of revolutionary diving timepieces for an active lifestyle.

Individually crafted in landmark carbon casing technology 3DTP™ (3-Dimensional Thin Ply), housing a LW skeletonised double date-wheel complication produced by the prestigious movement specialist, Dubois Dépraz, the Oktopus Double Date Carbon – Green is available in a limited series of 88 pieces worldwide, at CHF14,000 each excluding VAT.

THE IDEA

Bringing an urban vibrant touch to the dive series, the Double Date Carbon makes use of evolved design and technical elements to create a unique and exceptional timepiece presented in striking Green. Evolution, not revolution is key to the company spirit, as co-founder and creative mind Morten Linde explains. “On a Linde Werdelin, every little detail is calculated; every millimetre of the watch contributes to the complete design; every nuance has a story.”

THE CASE AND MATERIAL

Revisiting the use of revolutionary 3DTP™ - or 3-Dimensional Thin Ply - a proprietary method of sculpting micro carbon fibres into the iconic angular shape of an Oktopus case, the process provides finely-grooved facets and a subtle sheen. This is set against a bezel in black ceramic with brushed satin topside. The unmistakeable champagne gold detailing is achieved with a ceramic treatment called TIN, which enriches a number of the Double Date Carbon’s specially crafted components. TIN is used on the crown and for the first time, also on the titanium screws for the bezel and the strap. The signature octopus engraving on the back case is also presented in TIN and every exclusive piece is numbered.

Integrated with a premium natural rubber strap, specifically designed for the Oktopus Double Date Carbon, Linde Werdelin’s proprietary strap system allows the wearer interchangeable options, should they wish to switch to any strap or bracelet in the series.

THE DIAL AND MOVEMENT

Sitting at 12 o’clock is a skeletonised Double Date complication, developed by Dubois Dépraz and adapted by Linde Werdelin with their custom, skeletonised date wheels. A double date complication has previously appeared on the Oktopus Double Date Titanium Yellow, Red and Blue and Oktopus Rose Gold. On the Double Date Carbon, the double date complication modified by Linde Werdelin has been produced with newly advanced technology. It also consists of two independent and incredibly thin TIN-treated date wheels underneath the dial, which rotate in unison above the DLC-treated movement plate to reveal the date numerals through the aperture. Large hour numerals in a striking printed blue-line Green luminant allow divers to read the dial easily underwater.

RELEASE

As part of its international launch, the Oktopus Double Date Carbon will be available exclusively from prestigious Parisian concept store Colette, from Friday 16th January 2015. The piece will be on general release at a number of select retailers as of 26th January 2015. It is priced from CHF 14,000 excluding VAT, in a limited quantity of just 88 pieces worldwide.
