JEANRICHARD Welcomes High Wire Artist Nik Wallenda to SIAR Mexico and Launches Limited Edition Collections

Swiss watchmaker JEANRICHARD was proud to welcome high-wire artist Nik Wallenda to Mexico City, for this year’s Salon de Alta Relojeria (SIAR).

Nik is the high wire artist that on June 23, 2013 made history with his awe-inspiring crossing of the Grand Canyon, in turn making one of the most memorable moments in TV history with 13 million people tuning in to view on Discovery Channel. The walk itself had Nik Wallenda a quarter mile (circa 400 meters) above the canyon, on a two-inch cable (5 cm), with 1,500 feet  (425 meters) to cover end-to-end with no net or tethering. The 34-year-old took a little over 22 minutes (22’54’’) to accomplish this impressive challenge and overnight became the ecstatic center of the public eye. To add to the historic nature of the Grand Canyon walk, it was the first time Nik has ever worn a timepiece while walking the wire, the Iconic JEANRICHARD Terrascope.

At this years Emmy Awards, Nik Wallenda’s epic crossing was honored by winning the Top TV Moment of the Year, a category voted on by the public.

Coming to SIAR is the first time Nik has been in Mexico since he was a young boy but he already has big dreams for the big city. “I have a dream of walking across an active volcano”, said NIk while visiting the show. “Though other ideas have came up since my visit”.

“We are very proud to have Nik join us this week in SIAR”, said Bruno Grande, COO of JEANRICHARD. “We wanted to make this show a very special one, not only having Nik coming to join us but also launching two limited edition timepieces celebrating the rich culture of Mexico”.
