Blancpain welcomes Spanish Chef Dani García in Spain as new friend of the brand

One of Blancpain’s grand traditions has been to honor the finest chefs in the world. The latest inductee is two-Michelin star Spanish chef, Dani García who remarked “A strong friendship was forged between Blancpain and me many years ago; time is essential, both in the kitchen and in my life. Blancpain has always been my favorite timepiece”.

On October 21, 2016, Antonio López, Vice-President of Blancpain, travelled to Madrid for the celebration of Chef Dani García joinder into the ranks of chef friends of Blancpain. In his words, “Master watchmakers and chefs have a common passion in the pursuit of excellence, innovation, attention to detail and precision”.

The event, which attracted the most important media from the watch, economic and lifestyle sectors in Spain among its guests, was held in BIBO, Dani García’s restaurant, which recently opened in Madrid. For the occasion, Dani García designed a special menu, including two new creations, and which also featured an exclusive Blancpain champagne bottling.

On Dani García’s wrist was a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Flyback Chronograph. The Bathyscaphe is an iconic Blancpain model that first debuted in 1956 as part of the Fifty Fathoms diving watch collection. The modern chronograph features Blancpain’s exclusive in-house calibre F-385 movement which runs at 5 HZ, dividing each second into tenth of a second intervals, a free sprung anti-magnetic silicium balance spiral, and column wheel control. The Chef remarked that he was very excited about his friendship with Blancpain and the celebration of the close relationship with his cuisine.
