Blancpain Ocean Commitment Exhibition Stops in Seoul, Korea

Since the first Fifty Fathoms watch, launched in 1953, Blancpain built and maintained a close connection to the oceans. To promote further its commitment in protecting the oceans as well as to increase public awareness of the need to preserve this vital resource, Blancpain presented an exceptional temporary Ocean Commitment Exhibition at JNB Gallery of Horim Art Center, in Seoul, Korea.

On June 2, Aaron Wang, famous underwater photographer and friend of Blancpain and Soomin Park, Brand Manager of Blancpain in Korea welcomed VIPs, friends of the brand and journalists to commemorate the opening of the exhibition based at JNB Gallery of Horim Art Center in Seoul.

Blancpain's Ocean Commitment exhibition is divided into several sections of varying themes, which are covered by in-depth and detailed introductions. Among others (entre autres), the visitors could discover Blancpain’s connection to the underwater world established more than 60 years ago with the development of the first modern diving watch: the Fifty Fathoms. Through the Fifty Fathoms, Blancpain developed important relationships with scientists, divers, governmental organizations and other pioneers of the deep water world. From those historical ties, Blancpain become a longtime fervent supporter of environmental initiatives to explore, preserve and protect the world’s oceans. The visitors could also discover the Art in Ocean. This specific place included some pictures realized by the underwater photographers and friends of Blancpain. Thus the visitors could discover the diversity of the oceans and they could realize the importance to protect them.

During the event, Aaron Wong explained his vision of the Blancpain Ocean Commitment project. "It is a great honor to have had the opportunity to work with Blancpain through Fifty Fathoms and the Gombessa expeditions over these years. Today, I'd like to share with you some of the images through my travels and hopefully, you too can see this beauty and understand the importance of oceans conservation”

Soomin Park, Brand Manager of Blancpain in Korea spoke about the brand's passion for the oceans “Blancpain’s historical connection with diving dates to 1953 with the development of the first modern diving watch, the Fifty Fathoms. In recognition of its close links to diving and its Fifty Fathoms history, for many years Blancpain has supported environmental initiatives to preserve and protect the world’s oceans. That's what the Blancpain Ocean Commitment is all about."

The Blancpain Ocean Commitment Exhibition was opened to public viewing the 2nd of June at JNB Gallery of Horim Art Center in Seoul, Korea.
