Industry News: COUTUREtime Cancels Its 2020 Edition

The annual Las Vegas tradeshow goes dark for the first time in its history.

The final watch fair on the 2020 calendar has been canceled. Due to increasing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with Nevada's shelter in place order, show organizers Emerald Exhibitions officially canceled COUTURE and COUTUREtime earlier this week.

The COUTURE show was set to be the highlight of a now-empty calendar for the watch industry. Following the cancellation of Baselworld (read HERE) and Watches & Wonders (read HERE), the industry was set to reunite in Las Vegas June 1-5, but due to the shifting crisis, the show was forced to cancel.

Watchonista is very much looking forward to the 2021 edition of COUTURE and seeing many of our friends and industry peers once this crisis subsides. Meanwhile, stay safe and stay healthy!

Official Press Release

During these difficult and uncertain times, we are continually reminded what an important role the COUTURE community plays in each of our lives. While the original reason for our coming together was to conduct business, over the years, the transactional nature of our business has been transcended by a genuine sense of love, friendship, community and a shared appreciation of beauty and design. This commonality permeates our daily lives throughout the year, and not just in the 5 days we spend together in Las Vegas.

Maintaining the health and safety of every member of this incredible community, as well as that of the COUTURE team, is paramount to us. With that said, amidst growing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, and after having extensive discussions with many of you, we have made the difficult decision to cancel COUTURE 2020, which had been scheduled for June 1-5, 2020 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

This is due to recent developments regarding COVID-19, that include, but are not limited to, the declaration of a National State of Emergency by President Trump; the various statewide states of emergency declared across the nation; the latest federal measures, including travel restrictions placed on foreign nationals traveling to the United States from certain EU member states and other places; the declaration by the WHO of COVID-19 as a pandemic; the accelerating pace of confirmed cases worldwide and domestically; the current quarantines, containment areas and restrictions on congregating and large gatherings imposed by states and other government and public health authorities; various company-imposed travel restrictions on employees affecting attendees and participating companies; and the resulting cancellations made by several key COUTURE customers, partners and speakers. These developments have made it impossible to effectively execute a June event that delivers the level of education, connection and value that our community expects.

We are focused on continuing to serve this community, creating ways to connect and working closely with each of our partners, to provide the necessary support and information to enhance your businesses throughout the year. We will continue to utilize our various outlets to promote the beauty and artistry that you all represent.

We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause. We deeply value your ongoing loyalty to COUTURE, and we look forward to seeing you during COUTURE 2021, if not before then. The information on our website will be promptly updated and further announcements regarding the 2021 edition will be posted in the coming days and weeks.

Our thoughts are with all of you during this time. The safety and well-being of our attendees, exhibitors, and COUTURE team will always come first.
