Double-signed watches hold a special place in the hearts of watch collectors. Back in the day, retailers were the only place people could purchase now familiar brands. In some parts of the world, watchmakers were synonymous with boutiques. Think Rolex and Bucherer, Patek Phillipe and Tiffany, and Jaeger-LeCoultre and Hermès.

In many cases, the association of a watch with a beloved boutique was part of a watch’s provenance. And a good origin story is like catnip to collectors, which is why double signed timepieces – watches that bear the signature of both the watchmaker and the retailer – are so sought after.

This relationship is still meaningful today, and the Watches of Switzerland Group has been instrumental in partnering up its retail subsidiaries with brands to create limited-edition collaboration pieces that are destined to become part of your story as well. And the new The Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Watches of Switzerland Special Edition is an excellent example of such a watch.

Sign of the Times

The Breitling Premier was born back in 1943. The world was at war, but the Premier was made for elegance as well as performance. With its signature triple chronograph registers and case ranging in size from 32mm to 38mm, it was sporty but could also pass as a dress watch.

The Premier has aged very well and still stands out as one of Breitling’s most elegant offerings. Yet the B01 Chronograph 42 Watches of Switzerland Special Edition takes this elegant utilitarianism even further.

As Georges Kern, Breitling’s CEO, said in a press release, “The long-standing relationship between Breitling and the Watches of Switzerland Group reflects our shared values and dedication to delivering a first-class luxury experience to our customers. The new Premier B01 Chronograph 42 perfectly embodies these values in a timepiece that is both classic and refined.”

For peak performance, the timepiece is kitted out with the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, which was developed in-house and is recognized as one of the hardest working movements in the watch business. The self-winding COSC-certified Caliber 01 has 346 components, including a bidirectional rotor with ball bearings. And it beats at 28,800 a/h or 4 hertz with a water-resistance of 100 meters. The chronograph also features your classic column wheel and vertical clutch for accuracy and carries a power reserve of 70 hours.

All of this energy is visible through the transparent caseback inscribed with the Watches of Switzerland Group logo.

All in the Family

While brands and retailers have partnered up for ages, the Watches of Switzerland Group takes these limited-editions even further by keeping enthusiasts in mind when embarking on these collaborations.

Or, as Brian Duffy, the Watches of Switzerland Group CEO, put it, “Our collaboration is a badge of honour for our teams, and we hope something for our clients to enjoy.”

With its 42mm stainless steel case and unmistakable stepped case flanks, applied indices, bi-compax counters, and symmetrical date, the exclusive Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Watches of Switzerland Special Edition signals that you are a member of the club. It comes in a distinctive new silver dial with contrasting blue sub-dials as well as a white tachymeter scale on a blue inner bezel and enhanced by a blue alligator leather strap.

Adding to the sophisticated appearance of this chronograph is a slightly domed crystal and a discreet non-screw lock crown and pill chronograph pushers.

To make clients feel more like a part of the family, each timepiece comes with a certificate signed by Georges Kern, Breitling CEO and Brian Duffy, the Watches of Switzerland Group CEO.

Special Occasion

As much as the Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Watches of Switzerland Special Edition celebrates the relationship between Breitling and the Watches of Switzerland Group, this timepiece is ultimately aimed at enthusiasts who want a timepiece that’s timeless and unique.

The stylish timepiece is limited to only 150 pieces throughout the U.S. and U.K. (100 available in the U.K. and 50 in the U.S.) at Watches of Switzerland and MAYORS boutiques, stateside, and Watches of Switzerland, Goldsmiths, and Mappin & Webb in Britain.
