Maria Sharapova is participating for the first time to the Olympics Games and was named to carry the flag of her country, the Russian Federation, at the opening Ceremony. She was the first Russian woman to be given this opportunity. On her wrist, her TAG Heuer Formula 1 Lady Steel and Ceramic Pavée as she was marching into the stadium. Sharapova declared : "This years upcoming Olympics in London holds special meaning to me as this will be my first foray into the Games.
