In 1927, Maillard's grandfather, Hugo Buchser, founded Europastar, one of the only publications at the time entirely dedicated to watchmaking, before it moved to the mainstream. Since 1993, Maillard has been chief editor of the historical family jewel, currently headed up by his brother, Philippe, and nephew, Serge. At the same time, he has pursued a career as an independent film director, directing and producing full-length features. It is no accident that in his search for scripts, he takes a unique look at the sector from behind the screen, adopting an analytical and forward-looking stance.
