Longines participates in the grand reopening of ParisLongchamp as Official Partner

As the Official Partner at the grand reopening of the ParisLongchamp Racecourse, Longines is proud to have timed the performances of Cracksman ridden by Lanfranco Dettori during the highly anticipated Prix Ganay – a Group 1 race – as well as the victory of Mickaël Barzalona on Kitesurf during the Prix Allez France Longines.

In addition to having the honour of lending its name to one of the day’s races, the Swiss watchmaking brand also celebrated the victories of Cracksman and Kitesurf by awarding their owners, trainers and jockeys with an elegant watch.

On Sunday, 29 April 2018, Longines was delighted to participate alongside its Partner France Galop in the grand reopening of the new ParisLongchamp Racecourse. On a day highlighted by eight races and numerous entertainment activities for all, the spectators had the opportunity to marvel at the modern architecture of the new racecourse, all while attending a sports spectacle bringing together the world’s best jockeys and horses. After two years of monumental construction work carried out by the architect Dominique Perrault, the new ParisLongchamp has been designed to improve the racing experience, with a 180° view from the grandstand and an enlarged parade ring. In addition, this racecourse is the only one in France to benefit from an “Open Stretch”, a passing lane giving an additional chance to the last horses of the race to get a better position.

As the Official Timekeeper of ParisLongchamp, Longines had the honour of timing the day’s races as well as lending its name to one of them, the Prix Allez France Longines, in which Kitesurf ridden by Mickaël Barzalona won distinction by crossing the finish line first. Longines also had the pleasure of being present at the Prix Ganay, the highlight race, in which Cracksman and Lanfranco Dettori were victorious. Longines recognised the performances of Kitesurf and Cracksman by rewarding their owners, trainers and jockeys one of its elegant timepieces.

As part of the partnership that has joined Longines and France Galop, the winged hourglass brand is proud to be the Official Timekeeper for the Chantilly, Deauville and ParisLongchamp racecourses, as well as for race days organised at them. It is also the Title Partner of the Prix de Diane Longines and Partner of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club. In addition, during the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the Swiss watchmaking brand is delighted to lend its name to two Group 1 races, the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines and the Prix de l’Opéra Longines.

The Swiss watchmaking brand Longines benefits from expertise shaped by tradition, elegance and performance.
