Omega’s Latest Bond-Worthy Seamaster Diver 300M Collection Lets the Bad Guys Get in on the Fun

Today, for the first time in the 30-year Omega/Bond relationship, the villains get their say as Omega releases six new timepieces that offer a shaken-and-stirring choice in the eternal battle between good and evil. For your eyes only.

Watchmaker Omega’s version of “M,” CEO and President Raynald Aeschlimann, makes the case for the duality of the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond and Spectre Collection thusly:

We are extremely proud of this collection. Omega has been the watch of James Bond for more than thirty years, and this is the first time we have brought James Bond and Spectre together in a collection. Both belong to the same story, and our customers have always known both sides of it. Now they can wear both.

Ever since Pierce Brosnan’s Bond began sporting an Omega timepiece (specifically the Omega Seamaster Professional 300M) in 1995’s GoldenEye, fans of serious dive watches with that elusive 007 connection have only been able to play the part of the good guy.

That said, even as a dyed-in-the-wool Bond fan, I’m willing to explore the dark side of the franchise, so let’s start with the “Spectre” models from the six new commemorative Seamaster Diver 300M offerings, which are split evenly, three and three, between righteous and criminal inspiration.

Itching to Go Bad

The 42mm steel (with a grade 5 titanium rotating dive bezel) Ref. 210.30.42.20.01.023 on a handsome brushed mesh bracelet (first seen in an Omega/Bond watch in 2021 for Daniel Craig’s Bond in No Time to Die) is the core offering for the Spectre-inspired rogue’s gallery.

Powered by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806, you just know you are going to see some deep, dark black in the malevolent mix here, like the black ceramic bezel insert and the black grained-finish dial. This monochromatic film noir gains added menace with a black Spectre “octopus” logo adorning the caseback-visible movement’s rotor.

Two limited edition models, one in steel on mesh and one in platinum/gold on a leather strap, are sold as a two-piece set limited to 77 pairs and present a more elevated sense of badness. Of course, the models in these box sets carry the same overall appearance and specs as the core model “Spectre” Seamaster Diver 300M above, except with the addition of a special numbered edition plate at 9 o’clock on the caseback.

The 42mm platinum/gold Ref. 210.83.42.20.01.001 provides an even greater sense of global domination. The black-grained dial is replaced with a mesmerizing set of dark grey tentacle details in a PVD gradient pattern on an 18K white gold dial. To crown this evil mastermind, the Spectre octopus rotor logo is crafted in Omega-proprietary 18K Moonshine Gold.

Close its polished black leather strap, then go ahead and pet your hissing white cat.

Forces of Good

Just because 007 fights for King (now) and country, doesn’t mean the matching Bond-side editions of the collection are any less cool, stylish, and potentially deadly.

For the core 42mm steel execution (Ref. 210.30.42.20.03.004) with titanium dive bezel and mesh steel bracelet, the aluminum dial is a more scuba-authentic deep blue in a more friendly, familiar Omega “wave pattern.” The unidirectional rotating dive bezel is crafted in raised, texture-blasted titanium without an insert, letting the metallic purity better frame the dial.

Meanwhile, visible via the caseback, a spiral metallic 007 “gun barrel” pattern from the iconic opening of every Bond film dominates the visible rotor of the collection-shared 8066 movement.

For the Bond two-piece limited edition set (again, limited to 77), we see a similar mission of the singular “Bond” Seamaster Diver 300M above, with a special edition-numbered plate at 9 o’clock and a 42mm platinum/gold approach (Ref. 210.83.42.20.03.001) on a gleaming blue leather strap.

This time, the hypnotic effect of the white-gold dial mimics the 007 gun barrel theme in a blue PVD gradient. The rotor is also a vibrant blue version of the gun barrel theme in this platinum super-spy.

Vodka martini, anyone?
