Breguet Boutique in Cannes honours the tradition of Cameo Carving

On July 26th 2012, Breguet has been hosting an exhibition in Cannes entitled “Discover the ancestral tradition of the cameo, true miniature sculpture on shell”. The 40 guests attending the venue were delighted to discover the traditional art of cameo carving.

At this event, the carver Mr. Fabio Ottaviano made a demonstration of this renowned craftsmanship art. From a shell carefully selected, unique dials were made. Integrated into the Queen of Naples Cammea watch, its cameo-carved dial is an authentic miniature sculpted from shell. The off-set hours and minutes appear to be taking discreet leave of the stage centre, in order to let the art of cameo carving shines in all its glory.

Fine jewellery cameo pieces, like “La Rose de la Reine” collection were also presented to the customers. The main motif of this jewellery set is a composition around a delicate cameo-engraved rosebud. This dainty cameo-engraved rose is also featured on earrings, a bracelet and a pendant, while a pure, understated ring completes this refined collection.
