Some time over the rainbow…
Winter is over but Spring seems to have lost its way... Through our compilation of the most colorful timepieces we aim to bring you a little bit of sunshine.
April showers bring forth May flowers. Or at least we hope! Lacking of Vitamin D, colors are fun and at least make us happy.
A fireworks of colors…
The only visible edges of Jacob & Co.’s brilliant Flying Tourbillon timepiece are to be spotted on the stones…and only them. The rounded case is covered up with baguette-cut diamonds and multi-color sapphires. Same with the paved dial, invisibly set with 403 stones in a rainbow hue of colors. 47 millimeters of sparkle with deep blue thin hands indicating the hours and minutes under which we glimpse on a one-minute flying tourbillon with a 100 hours power reserve. A fireworks of horological colors!
Corum went crazy with a multi-color version of the Billionnaire tourbillon. The recipe of the concoction comprises three gem-setting techniques with 782 diamonds including 124 baguettes, 20 sapphires, 9 tsavorites, 7 amethystes, 5 rubies and 3 aquamarines representing the hours as roman numbers. Not to forget the minutes and small seconds with the tourbillon cage and of course, a tourbillon. The aerial movement with sapphires bridges and plate requires a high degree of precision the same degree required for the gem setting. A work of art in all transparency.
With colors, it’s never over!
Rolex spiced its reputation up and moved from being classic to bling! With a new 3235 caliber, the latest Oyster perpetual pearl master keeps a 39 mm diameter in yellow or white gold. The bezel is set with colorful baguettes cut sapphires named after the color of the dial : cognac, red grape or olive green respectively following an orange to yellow; purple and pink or blue to green gradient. The golden hours markers in addition to the 3, 6, an 9 are paved with diamonds. With a 70 hours of power reserve, the date and second-hand are the single complications of a shining piece.
Without stones, Louis Vuitton illuminated Baselworld 2015 with the Escale Time Zone- a more accessible version of the Escale World Time launched a year before. A traditionnal GMT function with a second timezone on a dial color-stamped by hand through a silicon coated rubber.
If you have a hard time choosing which one suits you best, pick them all (colors) and shine with one (timepiece)…
