Witnessing Greatness: Patek Philippe Live at Watches and Wonders 2025
This year’s surprises from Patek Philippe include an absolutely incredible quadruple complication, a jaw-dropping split-seconds chronograph, and a refined 8-day date/day Calatrava.
As a titan of the Swiss watch industry, every move Patek Philippe makes is closely watched by insiders and enthusiasts alike. After introducing its controversial Cubitus collection last October, it felt like the brand needed to nail its Watches and Wonders 2025 novelties.
And Patek certainly didn’t disappoint!
The brand revealed 16 new models, including several powered by new movements. Here are the models we found most compelling and felt obliged to share with you.
Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308G
The formidable 42mm x 17.71mm Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308G combines four complications: a minute repeater, a split-seconds chronograph (counted as two), and an instantaneous perpetual calendar.
The debut version – a 15-piece platinum edition – was unveiled as the flagship model at the 2023 Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Tokyo. Now, the white gold variant, the Ref. 5308G, officially joins the Patek Philippe catalog.
The minute repeater chimes the hours and minutes with two classic gongs that produce an ethereal sound. The perpetual calendar displays the day, date, month, leap year, and day/night indicator through apertures, of which the date, day, and month will change instantaneously at midnight when needed. A single pusher activates the chronograph, while the split-seconds hand is controlled by a pusher at 4 o’clock.
Powering it all is the new R CHR 27 PS QI calibre, which required 799 components to build and is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. The lucky future owner will enjoy watching the striking gongs in action and admiring the platinum micro-rotor, finished in guilloché.
The fully polished white gold case pairs elegantly with a sunburst ice blue dial and a glossy navy blue alligator strap. The suggested retail price is a staggering $1.24 million.
Calatrava 8 Days Ref. 5328G
If you’re a watch enthusiast searching for a daily wearer with a fresh dial design and an all-new movement, you’re in luck. The Calatrava 8 Days Ref. 5328G is a striking blue beauty that features a hand-indicated date, a day display in an aperture, and a small seconds hand, all integrated into a sub-dial at 6 o’clock.
Meanwhile, a power reserve indicator sits just below 12, and the entire white gold caseband is decorated with Patek Philippe’s signature hobnail pattern.
At the heart of the watch is a brand-new manual-wound movement, the Calibre 31‑505 8J PS IRM CI J, developed with several technical innovations and optimizations. Two series-coupled barrels ensure precise performance over eight full days, with a ninth “reserve” day highlighted in red on the power reserve scale.
Elegant and practical, this new release – with date, day, and power reserve display – is tailor-made for daily wear, especially in an office setting. The extended power reserve means it will still be ticking when you return from a week-long vacation. The listed price is $70,700.
Split-Seconds Chronograph Ref. 5370R
The new Ref. 5370R in rose gold is now the only stand-alone split-seconds chronograph in Patek Philippe’s current catalog. Previously offered in platinum, this new model marks the first time it’s available in rose gold.
Patek Philippe chronographs have long been beloved by collectors, with their intricate movements resembling miniature cities. A split-seconds chronograph, or rattrapante, essentially houses two chronographs in one, allowing for the measurement of two separate times.
The Ref. 5370R is powered by the CHR 29-535 PS calibre. This manually wound movement features 312 components, including a column wheel and horizontal clutch, along with seven patented innovations like an improved split-seconds mechanism.
Meanwhile, its 41mm rose gold case and Grand Feu brown and beige enamel dial with applied Breguet numerals in rose gold create a bold and elegant contrast of warm gold tones against black. This exceptional chronograph is listed at $288,700.
Additional Novelties
Several other standout pieces deserve attention. The Retrograde Perpetual Calendar Ref. 6159G marks new ground for Patek Philippe, featuring a gray metalized sapphire crystal dial that reveals the intricate mechanics beneath. This striking timepiece is sure to haunt the dreams of many watch lovers (in a good way) – mine included.
The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524G returns in white gold, this time with a fresh ivory lacquered dial and a khaki green composite strap with a fabric-like texture. For fans of Patek’s travel watches, this piece is another stunning option.
Capturing the essence of Patek Philippe’s 3-hand tradition, the new Calatrava Ref. 6196P in a platinum case with a salmon dial radiates timeless elegance. It’s powered by the Calibre 30-255 PS, a relatively new movement that was first introduced in 2021 with the 6119R and 6119G. The beautifully finished movement, free of a rotor, is fully visible through the caseback.
