Hublot is coming in hot for the new year with more than half a dozen new models dropping during this year’s LVMH Watch Week in Milan. The brand’s iconic Big Bang takes center stage with a slew of new iterations, but three in particular caught our eye.

Last year, the Big Bang rang in its monumental 20th anniversary, but if LVMH Watch Week is any indication of the year to come, Hublot is signaling the model’s expansion isn’t slowing down.

The Maison brings the model back to its roots with the Big Bang Original Unico, which carries the legacy of the Big Bang into the next era. In addition, co-creation remains at the forefront of the collection’s evolution with new collaborations with brand ambassador and tennis legend Novak Djokovic and British designer Samuel Ross. Let’s dig in.

An Original, Updated

Eight years after the original Big Bang debuted in 2005, the model got an upgrade in the form of an in-house movement with the Unico. As is often the case, the new calibre inspired a refresh to the design. The inaugural Big Bang Unico from 2013 put the new column wheel construction on full display with a skeletonized dial, but the model has continued to evolve ever since.

Today in the latest additions, we see a more subtle approach with a more traditional dial design and a sapphire caseback giving a glimpse at the Unico movement. Offered in four new configurations with different case materials, each dial showcases a stamped satin-finished “carbon effect” in the classic checkerboard pattern.

Whether you opt for one of the two titanium versions, the “Black Magic” ceramic, or the King Gold , you get a refined version of the Big Bang Unico, bringing the design back to its essence. Finishes are softer and more sophisticated, with beveled edges, and ergonomics are elevated through curved, smoother lugs, a rubber-clad crown, and rectangular pushers with Hublot’s signature rubber inserts.

The Power of Partnership

This year, tennis all-star Novak Djokovic and Hublot celebrate five years of work together, and with that, we get a trio of new watches honoring the pro athlete. Tennis surfaces serve as the inspiration, giving us a bold set of colors in blue, orange, and green representing hard-court, clay, and grass respectively.

The Maison takes the collaboration a step further, building the models of an exclusive new high-tech, lightweight, rigid, marbled material composite material made from Novak’s Lacoste polo shirts and Head tennis racquets.

Alongside this is the case’s middle section, or container, which is formed from another advanced material called Titaplast, the world’s strongest polymer. It has high-performance mechanical properties that are similar to titanium, can be machined to very fine tolerances, delivers an exceptional strength to weight ratio, and has a soft matte finish.

In addition, in place of a traditional, solid mainplate to hold the movement components in place, Hublot’s engineers conceived a three-dimensional lattice that takes the shape of tennis racquet strings. Each “string” is just 0.55mm thick and appears to be secured into the mainplate edge by attachment points that echo those found around the inner rim of a tennis racquet. These are just a few of the Easter eggs you’ll uncover in this co-creation.

As a cherry on top, the Big Bang Tourbillon Novak Djokovic GOAT Editions are more than just an aesthetic ode to the player. Each watch weighs only 56 grams and has been designed to withstand the forces a watch experiences when worn during play.

Hublot also gives us the next installment of its work with British designer Samuel Ross. The pair have been teaming up since 2019, when Ross won the Hublot Design Prize. A year later, he created a sculpture for Hublot's 40th anniversary, which then inspired their first watch collaboration, the Big Bang Tourbillon Samuel Ross, released in 2022.

Now, we get the sequel, merging Ross’s signature industrial design language with Hublot’s technical prowess. The watch features a 42mm case in satin-finished and polished black ceramic, reflecting the bold geometry and modular construction of the Big Bang line. At the center of the design is Samuel Ross’s signature honeycomb motif, whose skeletonized construction reveals the Maison’s in-house Unico calibre.
