Everything's Bigger In Texas: A Closer Look At The New Hublot Big Bang Camo Texas

The new Big Bang Camo Texas is saddle-full of Lone Star State appeal.

Already with two stand-alone boutiques in Texas (one in Dallas, the other in Houston), Hublot is slated its doors in Austin next year. So in celebration of its latest Texan outpost, the Swiss watchmaker has released a striking 25-piece limited-edition version of its perennially popular Big Bang chronograph timepiece that will strike deep at the hearts of Texas residents (and the state’s fans at large).

The bold 44mm Big Bang Camo Texas shares the HUB4100 manufacture chronograph movement, 42-hour power reserve, classic three sub-dial design, and burly, screwed-down ruggedness of its Big Bang brethren. But elements of the design and colorway are pure Texas, partner.

“Hublot has always been at home in Texas thanks to our incredible clients and friends. Part of our original North American footprint, we have embraced the state’s bold, adventurous, and independent spirit, the same values we are proud to reflect back in this unique timepiece,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe.

He continued: “One of only 25, it is a special piece, for a special place and special people, and we think there is no better time than the present to pause a pay tribute to the places we call home – or soon to be home – in the case of our exciting Austin development.”

The Great Outdoors

A delightful, lone rhodium-plated star sits gleaming at 12 o’clock to kick off the rodeo. But the primary visual theme is an olio of blue-hued camouflage tones inspired by Texas’ heritage of the outdoors and adventure. The dial picks up the camo theme without creating any legibility issues in the least. Plus, white and metallic indices, hands, and gauging along with pale blue sub-dials and the bold red tip of the gleaming seconds hand pop out of the blue forest just beautifully.

The camo execution on the technical rubber strap is particularly fascinating. The shape of each piece is individually cut, then assembled and fused together using a vulcanization process that creates a kind flexible mesh approach. Think the horologically classic Milanese band, only in rubber.

The Big Bang’s hefty signature case is cut from matte blue ceramic, overlaid with the signature Big Bang notched bezel, and features all the prominent gleaming screws and fasteners that define this popular watch model.

Finally, an engraved caseback not only records that each watch is one of 25, but the rim just outside the blackened rotor is rendered in the bold colors of the Lone Star State’s flag (red, white, and blue). While the Big Bang has always been physically big, this special edition for Texas just seems, well, even bigger.

Pricing & Availability

Although the Hublot Austin Boutique won’t open its doors in The Domain shopping center until next spring, the Big Bang Camo Texas is available now for $18,800. Though only available through the Hublot Dallas Boutique at NorthPark Center and the Hublot Houston Boutique at The Galleria, it is available for nationwide white glove delivery.
