By Joel Grandjean

Designed by Jean-Jacques Fiechter (first from the left) still dapper at the birthday party, the Fifty Fathoms, iconic diving watch signed by Blancpain, haunts for the past 60 years the subaquatic corridors frequented by divers of the world. In the presence of Marc A. Hayek (first right), an exhibition in the mythical Hall of the new Basel building, celebrates history while unveiling the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, the 2013 version with a name inspired by the famous submarine of Auguste Picard (1884-1962).

The exhibition will be on display in the United Nations for three months as from the 8th June 2013, International Oceans Day before leaving for Shanghai and then returning to Switzerland in Geneva.
