Baselworld 2013: Bathyscaphe versions - Blancpain celebrates in 2013 60 years of it’s Fifty Fathoms
As witnessed by the itinerant exhibition relating the emblematic history of the diver's watch according to Blancpain, namely the Fifty Fathoms, the underwater universe is populated with surprises that make fantasize on the surface.
The famous hull in which Jacques Piccard took place to investigate the abysses still instigates dreams. Survivor of the 50s, smelling of vintage sea sprays, the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, in it’s masculine or feminine version, has opened to the latest technological developments - silicon spiral spring, transparent bottom and a magnetism - and becomes the brand’s 2013 attraction. Sharp outlines, reminiscent to the historic models, traditional looked hands, in particular with the display of the date in an aperture and the famous luminescent pastille situated on the glasses, so useful in the darkness beloved by the diver.
It’s Liquidmetal ® measure scale, alloy of amorphous metallic obedience, avoids any deformation and allows a perfect bound of the ceramic insert with the bezel.
As every respected diver it’s unidirectional bezel turns by small notched increments, each representing one minute, in counter clockwise direction.
