G-SHOCK’s Latest CasiOak Models are Colorful, Metallic, and Lightweight. What More Could You Want?
The recently released GM2110D series features the first-ever G-SHOCKs with a metal bracelet and metal-covered bezel, and it comes in a rainbow of hues!
The year 2024 marks Casio’s monumental 50th anniversary celebration. To commemorate the occasion, G-SHOCK has been rolling out some exceptional watches to mark the milestone. This includes a few new additions to the iconic 2100 series.
In June, we saw the introduction of the MRGB2100B-1A, featuring G-SHOCK’s clever high-low mix of premium case materials and notching the first piece with a 2100 case to bear the iconic MR-G name.
Now, we get the G-STEEL GM2110D, the first-ever metal bracelet and metal-covered bezel fusion in the beloved 2100 series.
A Dynamic Duo: CasiOak & G-STEEL
The 2100 series, as we all know, is a relatively new addition to the G-SHOCK catalog, first debuting just five years ago in 2019. Still, it quickly became a fan favorite thanks to its versatile range of sizes and materials to suit any style and wrist. The collection is also notable for its quintessential sports watch DNA, epitomized by its signature octagonal bezel.
The design evolved from the DW5000, whose original model from 1983 featured – you guessed it – an octagonal bezel. However, the 2100 has garnered the affectionate nickname “CasiOak” for its striking resemblance to Audemars Piguet’s famous Royal Oak but with a distinct Casio flair and price tag.
The latest addition to the popular 2100 series is the new GM2110D. It draws inspiration from the GM2100 G-STEEL lineup with a sleek design and advanced construction, combining the robust structure G-SHOCK is known for with a refined, modern aesthetic.
The model comes in five bold and sporty colorways – orange, lime green, silver, sky blue, and navy. Although crafted from metal, each dial is meticulously treated with both metal and color coatings, resulting in the glossy, reflective dial finish on the new GM2110D.
Additionally, with its metallic finish, the recessed dial ring offers additional depth and dimension. Meanwhile, the vibrant hues are a breath of fresh air and give the line an eye-catching allure.
A Fan Favorite Gets a New Metal Treatment
Still, the highlight of every variation is the metal construction. First, stainless-steel covers the bezel’s glass-reinforced resin body, which merges rugged strength with a refined, contemporary look.
This octagonal bezel is forged, cut, and polished, displaying a mix of circular hairline finishes on the top and mirror finishes that extend to the lug connection points. The metal build extends to the bracelet, marking the first time the 2100 series has integrated a stainless-steel bracelet with a metal-covered bezel.
Altogether, this construction gives the GM2110D a look that’s just as metallic as the GMB2100 Full Metal CasiOak, but thanks to the resin body, it’s lighter – 19 grams to be exact – and thinner by a full millimeter without sacrificing any shock resistance.
