Manic Fixie Watches: A Love Letter to Fixed Lug Timepieces
Power Design Project 2 Limited Edition
Seiko expands its power design project collection with two playful limited editions that reinterpret the iconic panda chronograph dial as an actual panda. Created by in-house designer Kiyotaka Sakai, the designs transform the familiar black-and-white aesthetic into expressive watches inspired by the animal’s distinctive features.
The 43 mm stainless-steel cases house the quartz Caliber 8T61, offering an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. Panda-inspired ears become chronograph pushers, while the “SASAMETER” scale measures speeds up to 30 km/h, reflecting the theoretical running speed of a panda.
Completing the concept, textured dials evoke the animal’s coat, while the casebacks feature a three-dimensional panda tail and back pattern. Offered in classic black-and-white and a playful newborn-panda-inspired pink, the editions are limited to 3,000 and 2,000 pieces respectively, combining Japanese creativity, technical functionality and unmistakable kawaii character.
