On 29 June 2014, TAG Heuer was a proud participant in the first-ever European demonstration of the FIA Formula E Championship, the world’s first fully electric motor-racing series. The special event took place on Westminster Bridge in London and marked the official launch of the inaugural Formula E season, which will be contested by 10 teams over 10 rounds beginning on 13 September, 2014 in Beijing and finishing in 27 June, 2015 in London. In all, 10 cities will play host to the pioneering series, including Putrajaya, Malaysia,  Buenos Aires, Argentina, Punta del Este, Uruguay and Miami and Long Beach in  the United States. 

The 29 June event in London involved the entire fleet of 20 Formula E Spark-Renault SRT-01E single-seaters, which are made with groundbreaking zero-emission components by the world’s top car manufacturers and constructors. The cars reach maximum speeds of 225 km/h and accelerate from zero to 100 in 3 seconds. Driven by the best drivers in Formula One, Champ Car and IndyCar, their engines emit crowd-pleasing roars of 80 decibels, but no pollution. 

A video of the event was released on June 30th at the Global Launch of the Formula E season, Many government officials and dignitaries were in attendance—Westminster Bridge leads to the British House of Commons and the iconic landmark of Big Ben—as were many luminaries from the racing world, including Damon Hill, Christian Fittipaldi and Frank Williams.
