A Story That Began in 1904
Nestled in Switzerland’s Waldenburg Valley, the village of Hölstein has been home to Oris since June 1, 1904, when the company was founded by two visionary watchmakers. Over the following 122 years, the village became more than just a manufacturing location; it evolved into the foundation of the brand’s identity and independence.
From its historic factory buildings emerged hundreds of mechanical calibres, countless watch designs, and a philosophy rooted in accessibility, honesty, and mechanical innovation. Today, Hölstein remains both a physical home and a symbolic reminder of the values that continue to define Oris.
The annual Hölstein Edition serves as a tribute to that legacy and as a thank-you to the global community that has supported the brand throughout its journey.
For 2026, Oris has selected the newly relaunched Artelier as the canvas for its latest anniversary edition.
A New Chapter for the Artelier
Introduced earlier this year, the redesigned Artelier collection brings a more contemporary and urban character to one of the brand’s most classic lines. The Hölstein Edition 2026 builds upon that foundation while introducing a series of details that transform the watch into something entirely unique.
The stainless-steel case measures 39.5mm in diameter and 11.1mm thick, preserving the refined proportions that define the Artelier. A soft grey dial serves as the backdrop for one of the watch’s most distinctive features: a mirrored small seconds display paired with a vivid red seconds hand.
At first glance, the mirror effect appears subtle. Yet as light moves across the dial, it creates moments of reflection – both literal and symbolic – turning an otherwise functional complication into a conversation piece.
The idea of reflection extends beyond the dial.
Reflection as a Design Theme
Turning the watch over reveals a specially treated caseback featuring the beloved Oris Bear. Created using an advanced laser process developed alongside innovation partner Inspire, the surface produces an iridescent mirror effect that shifts through the colors of the rainbow depending on the angle of the light.
All of these mirrored surfaces (including the dial) invite interaction, encouraging wearers to pause, engage with the watch, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of themselves reflected within it.
Surrounding the engraved bear are the words “Hölstein Edition 2026” framed by two concentric rings, reinforcing the celebratory nature of the piece.
Still, behind the playful details lies serious watchmaking.
Powered by Calibre 401
The Hölstein Edition 2026 becomes the first watch in the new-generation Artelier family to feature an Oris Calibre 400 Series movement. Specifically, it is powered by the Calibre 401, an automatic manufacture movement designed to deliver long-term reliability and everyday practicality.
The movement offers a substantial 120-hour power reserve, enhanced anti-magnetic performance, and accuracy rated between -3 and +5 seconds per day – comfortably within chronometer standards.
Oris further supports the movement with a 10-year warranty when registered through MyOris and a recommended 10-year service interval, underscoring the brand’s commitment to durability and the ownership experience.
Designed for the Oris Community
According to Oris CEO Rolf Studer, the Hölstein Editions occupy a special place within the company.
Produced annually since 2020, the series provides an opportunity to explore creative ideas that might not naturally fit within the core collection. More importantly, each edition serves as a gesture of appreciation to the collectors and enthusiasts who make up the global Oris family.
The result is a watch that balances technical credibility with character, proving that mechanical watchmaking can be both serious and joyful.
