Louis Vuitton Reimagines Its Iconic Color Blossom Jewelry into a New Line of Timepieces

Ladies, your perfect summer stack has arrived.

I wholeheartedly agree that the “shrink it and pink it” approach to designing women’s watches is problematic if and only if it’s a singular and one-note approach. However, I’m a self-proclaimed pink girlie, and I do, in fact, have a rather small 5.75-inch wrist. So, who am I to cast off a petite pink timepiece when it’s done beautifully?

Here, we have just that as Louis Vuitton comes to us with its new Color Blossom watches, proving not all compact pink watches are the enemy.

Now, it certainly helps that Louis Vuitton produces a wide variety of exceptional pieces for women – just look at some of its LVMH Watch Week novelties from this year, like the 37mm Tambour Convergence (a stunner that I can attest looks fantastic on my wrist). With its latest debut, the Maison is getting back to basics with some very quintessential ladies’ models.

Florals for Spring (and Summer)

For the watch nerds, here’s a bit of a primer on Color Blossom. This has been a staple jewelry collection for Louis Vuitton for over a decade, incorporating the four-petal flower from the brand’s iconic and instantly recognizable monogram motif, comprised of a four-point star, a four-point star within a diamond, and the aforementioned four-petal flower.

The design language has now been reinterpreted into a new collection of timepieces, which I imagine stack beautifully with the bracelets from the jewelry line. For instance, the case itself takes on the jewelry collection’s signature shape, presented in a compact 26mm round or “pebble-shaped” build with the dial cutout revealing the petals of the flower and completing the motif.

Speaking of the dial, for the inaugural collection, the Maison extends its use of stone dials. This is a trend we’ve seen in the Louis Vuitton catalog, with models like the Escale tiger’s eye and malachite, as well as across the industry at large.

Yes, there is, in fact, only one pink option in the lineup, and it’s pink-on-pink-on-pink, with a rose gold case framing a pink mother-of-pearl dial topped off with a powdery-pink calf leather strap. With the rest of the models, we get a bit more variety while remaining ultra-feminine.

The range covers the full spectrum, from a very neutral combination of stainless steel with a white mother-of-pearl dial and beige calf leather strap to a bold yellow gold case with a striking amazonite dial and perfectly color-matched turquoise strap to a fully blinged-out iteration with a pave diamond case.

At first glance, the translation of the motif and jewelry DNA may seem rather simple, but the devil is in the details. Soft curves take center stage, with a curved sapphire glass further enhancing the suppleness of the pebble case. Additionally, the flowing shape of the four-petal flower is further enhanced by the minute track, which takes the same form and, together, creates a concentric floral appearance.
