You Don’t Need to Be a Star Wars Nerd to Love G-SHOCK’s New G-Steel and Baby G Releases
Celebrating the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, these timepieces get the full collector’s edition treatment.
Released on May the Fourth, sci-fi and watch fans alike are still buzzing about two new, Star Wars-themed timepieces from G-SHOCK.
On one hand, there are, like, a million horological tie-ins to George Lucas’s storied multiverse. Citizen has just launched the Attesa Star Wars “The Mandalorian” Beskar in Super Titanium, while Fossil dropped the Star Wars Grogu Neutra Watch Set that comes in a box that giggles.
G-SHOCK’s The Mandalorian and Grogu collection, however, appeals to both fans of the Star Wars canon and the brand’s galaxy.
Let’s take a closer look at why these particular timepieces are so appealing to collectors.
Crossing Over
First, let’s look at the new G-Steel GM2100-1ASW “The Mandalorian.” Now, I’ll admit that I’m not so steeped in Star Wars lore as some cats out there (although, I have watched “The Mandalorian” and a friend of a friend, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, played Captain Carson Teva in that series). After all, I’m still calling Din Djarin “The Mandalorian,” and Grogu “Baby Yoda.”
Was I aware that the watch’s rugged, industrial finish is meant to evoke the bounty hunter’s Beskar armor and helmet? No. I needed the press release to tell me that. But I don’t need a fact sheet to inform me that this watch looks cool.
The student of cinema in me appreciates that the Star Wars signatures are not just grafted onto the classic GM-2100’s 49.3 × 44.4 × 11.8mm proportions. Instead, subtle touches include a forged metal bezel married to the G-SHOCK’s super tough Core Guard Structure that speaks to the durability of the bounty hunter’s almost impermeable armor.
Collectors of all things Star Wars will also be excited to learn that for the first time in G-SHOCK history (and for a limited time), each watch in this collection is supplied with a Bounty Hunter ID Card Watch Stand, inspired by the movie.
Perfect for fans and collectors, this unique accessory is packed flat and looks like a character-specific ID. When you are ready to show off your gear, integrated magnets seamlessly snap the card into a rigid, 3D watch display so you can present your timepiece like a standee in a movie theatre.
The Baby (Yoda) G
Watch and movie nerds alike are excited to see where the adventures of The Mandalorian and Grogu pick up in this all-new Star Wars adventure opening exclusively in cinemas May 22, 2026. The film is directed by Jon Favreau (of “Elf” fame) and stars Pedro Pascal, Jeremy Allen White, and Sigourney Weaver.
These names hold a special place in the hearts of film and TV lovers. And the new Baby G BA110YK-3ASW “Grogu” also elicits an emotional connection for watch fans (just ask any Spice Girls wannabe). More than just a little sister to the G-SHOCK, this piece from the BA-110 series packs its own pop cultural punch.
Like Grogu, this version is small but mighty, coming in a bright green resin case as an homage to “The Child.” And speaking of children, its 46.3 × 43.4 × 15.8mm proportions are perfect for young Jedis and folks who just like a smaller fit. It also comes with an ID Card Watch Stand.
