Where Mechanics and Elegance Unite: Bernhard Lederer’s New Inverto Titanium 39mm

A contemporary tribute to mechanical purity, combining inverted architecture, lightweight titanium, extreme horological precision, and the vision of an independent master watchmaker dedicated to the essential.

Two years after the debut of the Inverto, Bernhard Lederer unveils a new interpretation of his architectural horology masterpiece: the Inverto Titanium 39 mm. Lighter, more refined, and designed to follow the curve of the wrist to fully reveal the mechanical intelligence that drives it, this version marks a decisive step in the model’s evolution.

The master watchmaker continues his path, faithful to his language of transparency, precision, and absolute respect for traditional chronometry – while adding a resolutely contemporary expression to its lexicon.

With exclusive photographs by Watchonista Creative Studios, let’s immerse ourselves in the visual world of the new Inverto Titanium 39mm.

A Vision and a Legacy: The Art of Balance and Mastery

For Bernhard Lederer, every creation is an exercise in balance. Aesthetics and performance, tradition and innovation, architecture and fluidity – everything is rethought and adjusted, not to do more, but to do better.

The creative process is never a race, but a quiet quest where every component is questioned until it reaches its best form. The Inverto Titanium 39mm embodies this approach: a movement stripped of all excess, focused on the essential, where function and beauty naturally converge.

Rooted in a four-decade journey, it continues the legacy of Bernhard Lederer, founding member of the AHCI and recognized master of escapements, who has devoted his career to understanding, channeling, and refining energy.

His GPHG-winning Central Impulse Chronometer paved the way, and the Inverto Titanium perpetuates that watch’s spirit. A contemporary watch yet deeply connected to history, a precise mechanism imbued with emotion, a timepiece that doesn’t just measure time but inhabits it.

Inverted Architecture and Reinvented Titanium: Transparency and Lightness

With its gears, springs, and a double remontoir exposed, the Inverto reveals what most watches hide. This transparency is not an aesthetic gimmick but a deliberate choice to show the inner logic of a movement designed as a living organism. The system breathes, pulses, and unfolds at the constant rhythm of its dual remontoirs in dialogue.

Moreover, for the first time, titanium becomes the defining material of the Inverto. Lightweight, technical, and challenging to work with, titanium extends this mechanical purity while providing comfort and fluidity, as the concave Grade 5 titanium case (which is entirely hand-polished) hugs the wrist with an almost organic softness.

Under light, its surfaces subtly alternate between soft satin and mirror polish, a contrast achieved only by the artisan’s hand. The result: a delicate yet intense presence, a play of reflections that complements the mechanics without ever dominating them.

An Independent Manufacture: Freedom to Create

Bernhard Lederer belongs to the very small circle of watchmakers able to produce nearly every component in-house. Over 98% of the movement’s parts – from wheels to springs – are designed, manufactured, and adjusted under one roof in the Neuchâtel manufacture.

We cannot stress enough how extraordinary a feat this is for any watchmaker, especially an indie brand.

This independence allows every idea to be questioned, tested, corrected, and reinvented – without compromise, constraint, or imposed deadlines. “Without my own manufacture and laboratory, it would be impossible to observe, test, and refine each idea. Experimentation is the foundation of progress,” said Bernhard Lederer.

Each piece requires months of work, not to create scarcity, but to ensure that every watch embodies the same degree of mastery, understanding, and mechanical truth.

Calibre 9019 & Secret Dialogue: The Inner Rhythm of Time

With an inverted architecture that exposes the entire mechanism, at the heart of the Inverto Titanium beats the Calibre 9019, a movement with a double constant-force remontoir and a dual detent escapement. The two systems simultaneously release stored energy every fifteen seconds, ensuring constant power from the first to the last turn of the barrel.

Inspired by the Gafner principle, the system has been completely re-engineered to minimize unlocking resistance and optimize power consistency.

On the reverse, a discreet small seconds hand follows the same rhythm, guided by an architecturally inspired engraved pattern that echoes the movement’s structure. This almost secret, intimate detail is typical of Lederer’s approach: sophistication is never ostentatious, revealed only to those who take the time to look.

In this dialogue between visible mechanics and hidden refinement, the Inverto Titanium expresses its identity: a watch that does more than measure time – it brings it to life.
