Cerulean Joy: Omega’s Striking New Aqua Terra 150M Turquoise Models
With its dramatic new ocean blue dial shade and complementary yet dramatic black bezel and strap, Omega has redefined the wrist appeal for its popular Seamaster Aqua Terra dive watch collection.
While Omega’s bombastic, full-collection redux for the much-heralded Seamaster line two years ago for the line’s 75th Anniversary certainly included a couple of Aqua Terra models sporting serene blue dials, the recently released duo of Aqua Terra 150m models (one at 38mm and one at 41mm) take the design for the mid-line Seamaster variant even deeper with a stunning aquatic colorway on the dial and combine it with strong, dramatic black accents.
What’s more, their lacquered turquoise dials are crafted with a black gradient effect to play off the timepieces’ matte black ceramic bezels and integrated, woven-and-stitched black rubber straps (adding a new option to the existing steel bracelet Aqua Terra models from last year); it is a real treat for the eyes. The effect is technical and perhaps even a little retro, but it just plain works.
Aqua Terra Performance
After you’re done oohing and aahing over the contrasting hues, you can, of course, count on the Aqua Terra’s legendary performance specs and effortless style. The 41mm model’s Co-Axial Chronometer Calibre 8900 offers a whopping 60 hours of power reserve. In comparison, the 38mm model’s Calibre 8800 beating heart comes in just slightly behind its sibling with 55 hours of power reserve.
Each movement can withstand magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss and has endured Omega’s exhaustive in-house METAS certification process for performance and precision.
Furthermore, you can expect the Aqua Terra’s distinctive wave-patterned finishings on the movements’ rotors and other components, which are visible via their exhibition casebacks. Both models also have a 15 bar (150 meter) depth rating, if you’re inclined to take one of these beauties beneath the waves.
Pricing & Availability
If this combination of professional-grade dive functionality and uncanny design style appeals to your need for an adventure watch that makes a big visual impact, both sizes are available from the brand’s retailers and website as you read this, each for $7,000 on a steel bracelet or $7,300 on the rubber strap.
