Summer Fling: Rado’s Anatom is Now Available in Three Bold New Colors

Some brilliant ROYGBIV-inspired (well, RGY, in any case) models bring a pop of vibrant color to the always-edgy Rado Anatom.

If you caught our Rado-sponsored gift guide for Father’s Day, you already got a nice, long look at the artful model’s latest ceramic executions with steel or gold-toned details, checking off the brand’s notoriety as a “Master of Materials.”

However, the design-forward Rado is equally renowned for its mastery of color, particularly in the bold, extra-saturated chromatic realm. So let’s take a look at some of the brand’s latest summer goodies.

Taste the (Partial) Rainbow

In grapefruit red, lime green, and lemon yellow executions with gradient dials and durable link-textured fluorine-rubber straps, these new variations of the timepiece, which was ahead of its time when it was first introduced in 1983, take on additional modern, colorful appeal.

Of course, the recognizable 32.5mm by 46.3mm angled rectangular case and integrated strap approach of the modern iterations continue the original’s legacy. However, the updated Anatom models we are discussing today feature a highly polished black ceramic top case and bezel with steel case ends and a polished black PVD steel mid-case.

Powered by a modern in-house Radio calibre R755 movement with an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring, expect 72 hours of power reserve and an unexpected 50m of water resistance, to boot.

Fruity Goodness

The dial color of the grapefruit red iteration is particularly dazzling and hard to pin down; it’s not exactly pinkish red, not exactly orangey red, not exactly ruby red. This tone works particularly well with the eye-catching dial gradient that morphs into a dramatic black tone towards the dial edge.

This approach actually serves to enhance the bright colorway and provide a very legible dial surface for the simplified bar indices and lumed hands. At the same time, this ombré-like approach de-emphasizes the subtle date window at 6 o’clock and black crown, helping them blend perfectly into the overall presentation of all three executions.

The black gradient and case quickly give way to a tapered, deeply saturated, color-matched rubber strap that continues your chromatic journey.

The lime-green version evokes budding flora, and, as such, has a bit of an optimistic outdoorsy feel to it. The green-to-black-to-green color change makes this version a bit harder to rank among the three, but it is a winning combination.

Finally, the lemon-yellow Anatom screams sunny beach-side happiness, and now I’m prepared to call it a close second-place tie between this execution and the green version above.

Final Thoughts

Could the model name “Anatom” be derived from the word “anatomy?” Certainly. After all, the model’s comfort and wearability are a big part of its historic appeal. Moreover, with an overall thinness of 11.3mm, a prescient ergonomic design, and an integrated strap, these models are flat and light on the wrist.

In fact, you might be tempted to wear all three if your summers occasionally involve relaxing on a newly mown lawn (green) to enjoy a grapefruit-y Paloma (red) with a lemon wedge (yellow). You’re welcome for that recommendation, BTW.

All joking aside, with a price tag of only $3,550 each, the option to add multiple popping color variations to your own anatomy might not be completely off the table. For more information, check out Rado’s website.
