Unveiling our new creation

As addition to our ORIGIN collection, it is our pleasure to announce the birth of our latest creation of unique timepieces. We have worked hand in hand to develop this truly unique creation. The Flower Fields creation underlines our key signature of Grand Feu enamelling. Precious gemstones compliment our heritage in jewellery watchmaking.

The creation is a celebration of our brand promise. It showcases our independence, our outstanding craftsmanship and tells yet another inspiring story.

Celebrating our brand promise

We support an independent and free mindset in all our creations. Each creative process is ignited by a visionary impulse. Great ambition and a willingness to take risks are required to embrace this creative spark.

We are dedicated to outstanding craftsmanship. Each piece takes time to evolve. DeLaneau timepieces are made in hundreds, not thousands.

We wish to inspire with our creations and are inspired by nature’s multifaceted beauty. Every watch we create tells its own profound story.

The Flower Fields creation is exemplary for our philosophy and our achievements.

Inviting you on a journey

Together, let us now embark on a journey to discover yet another inspiring story. It is the story of radiant flower fields, swaying in the wind …

FERTILE GROUND
Each creative process is ignited by a spark of imagination. Such ephemeral impulses require a fertile ground in order to grow. At DeLaneau we think and act without boundaries. We allow ourselves total freedom to imagine the impossible.

SEEDING
Our goal was to evolve in our mastery of Grand Feu enamelling. Our desire was to interpret miniature enamel painting in a whole new way. Fascinated with impressionism, we had the image of a red poppy field in mind.

BELIEVING
Impressionism is widely regarded as being at the very pinnacle of artistic endeavour. Yet, if anyone could rise to the challenge, it would be our master miniature enamellers. Believing in them being the finest exponents of this craft, we allowed ourselves to think further.

DEBATING
Knowing full well we would pay homage to celebrated names such as Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir or Pissarro, we debated the idea. This would run contrast to DeLaneau’s traditional hallmark of realism and extreme accuracy. Yet it could also turn out to be a sensation.

INCUBATION
We all found ourselves brooding over the subject independently. On a morning in April, one of our enamellers passed by a colourful field of tulips. She spontaneously took a picture that ended up being the starting point for our creation.

CONVERGENCE
We now found our different artistic personalities united by the same goal. It was exhilarating to see how all of a sudden our visions had fused. Embracing the essence of impressionism, we would now be able to converge opposites. Together, we would bring about something completely new and fascinating.

NEW PARADIGM
Having mastered miniature enamel painting in previous creations, we had a comfortable starting point. Yet, much like the impressionists in their day, we had to liberate ourselves completely from previously proven concepts. In order to capture the famous light, movement and atmosphere of impressionism we needed to rethink enamel.

RESEARCH AND SKETCHES
Impressionism being about the nature of fugitive light, researching the right materials was essential. Our sketchbooks were filled with dozens of preliminary pencil and watercolour studies. We researched the perfect tints, investigated the granularity of each shade and tested the colours in the fire.

LAYER UPON LAYER
Impressionism requires the artist to convey a sense of depth and movement. This necessitated the use of many different enamel colours, each of which had to be individually fired. Our confidence was put to a test each time the dial faced the magic of the fire. Each firing presented the danger of the dial being ruined. The work of many hours would be wiped out in seconds.

HARVEST
With humble amazement we witnessed the first flower field dial see the light of day. Layer by layer we had trusted the hands of our artisans to bring forth our original vision. Together, we had succeeded to interpret miniature enamel in a whole new impressionist technique.

Flower Fields

Encapsulated in each grain of enamel we find the DeLaneau spirit. Our independent mindset allowed us to take on this ambitious challenge. Patience and perseverance helped us to once more prove our outstanding craftsmanship.

It is thus we can now share with you the inspiring story of flower fields swaying on the dial of a DeLaneau.
