The Montblanc Star Legacy Collection: Embracing Femininity

The Minerva heritage and legacy dates back to 1858 when the company founded by Charles- Ivan Robert specialized in gold pocket watches.

160 Years of Fine Watchmaking Heritage

The Minerva heritage and legacy dates back to 1858 when the company founded by Charles- Ivan Robert specialized in gold pocket watches. The Montblanc Star Legacy Collection takes its inspiration from the Minerva heritage and the company’s pocket watches that were made during the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Montblanc’s archives show the existence of international orders from very early on. The legibility of the dials was of particular importance and some of the movements were cased in wristwatches. As early as the year 1880, the manufacture had started to specialise in timekeepers that could be wound with a crown (called “remontoir au pendant” in French). These innovative pocket watches were among the first to be wound through the crown instead of a separate key. This is the reason why Minerva experienced considerable global success very early on.

The Spirit of Classical Fine Watchmaking

In celebration of Minerva’s exceptional history and heritage, Montblanc is presenting a range of new timepieces exclusively for ladies in its iconic Star Legacy line. In these new re-envisioned timepieces, the Maison enhances the level of classic finishing by bringing an additional sophistication to the design while keeping the key elements.

Inspired by the Minerva pocket watches that were made during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as the Gold Hunter Calibre 19’’ from 1927, the Montblanc Star Legacy timepieces feature round cases with a curved finish on the sides, giving a refined and shaped pebble effect, along with horns that have steps on the sides. In the spirit of classical watchmaking, the crowns stand out with their recognisable and easy-grip onion-shape, adorned on the side with the iconic Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl.

The dials of the new Star Legacy ladies’ timepieces feature the Maison’s exploding star guilloché pattern in the centre, highlighting an elegant and distinctive diamond ring at 6 o’clock that encircles the small seconds counter, which also contains a smaller Montblanc exploding star guilloché pattern. The shape and size of the prominent Arabic numerals at 3, 9 and 12 o’clock have been slightly redesigned, bringing even more refinement to the dial. Other aesthetic details include a unique railway minute track, which is of particular note as it features dots instead of lines (a rare twist found only in very few models from the late 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century) and a beautiful filet sauté guilloché running around the dial and outlining it. Completing the overall design, the dial features elegant leaf-shaped hands, contributing to a contemporary, yet classic aesthetic.

The new Montblanc Star Legacy ladies’ timepieces are available with colourful Sfumato alligator straps that come from the Montblanc Pelletteria, the Maison’s own leather Manufacture in Florence, Italy. “Sfumato” is the Italian word for “smokey” or “blurred” and refers to a process that achieves delicate graduation between colours by blending areas into one another through the superimposition of many layers of thin paint. When applied to the treatment of leather, it gives each painted piece an elegant patina. As the individual straps are delicately painted by hand, each one makes every timepiece completely unique.

The Star Legacy ladies’ timepieces continue the journey of the 160 years of Minerva heritage through the spirit of classical watchmaking. With new sizes, elegant diamond-set dials and a large choice of distinctive straps, this line is the perfect way for the female watch connoisseur to enhance her outfits and express her own personal style.

Monblanc Star Legacy Small Seconds 32 mm and 36 mm

The Montblanc Star Legacy Small Seconds 32 mm and 36 mm both come in a choice of five different versions: four in stainless steel and one in 18K red gold. Each version features the Maison’s aesthetic design codes that are directly rooted in the history of traditional fine watchmaking and the extraordinary Minerva heritage that shines through from the case to the dial.

One of the major highlights on the dials of these elegant timepieces is a distinctive diamond ring that encircles the small seconds counter. This jewellery feature is not only new for the brand, but is rarely seen in watchmaking.

The 32 mm version is set with 28 Top Wesselton diamonds (0.056 ct.) and the 36 mm version has 32 Top Wesselton diamonds (0.064 ct.). The stainless-steel models are available with a choice of a Sfumato alligator strap or a stainless-steel bracelet and come with the option for a diamond bezel set with 68 Top Wesselton diamonds (0.5032 ct.) for the 32 mm versions and with 76 Top Wesselton diamonds (0.5624 ct.) for the 36 mm version, bringing the utmost refinement. They are fitted with silvery-white dials and with anthracite-coloured Arabic numerals, indexes and leaf-shaped hands.

The 32 mm 18K red gold version features an ivory-coloured dial, while the 36 mm model comes with a chocolate-coloured dial. Both feature refined red gold-coated Arabic numerals, indexes, leaf-shaped hands and are fitted with Sfumato alligator straps from the Montblanc Pelletteria in varying shades of brown. The 32-mm model has a strap colour that is close to camel and the 36 mm version one is more of a chocolate hue. Both are fitted with an 18K red gold pin buckle.

They are all powered by an automatic winding movement Calibre MB24.08 for the 32 mm and Calibre MB24.16 for the 36 mm.
