Meet Linde Werdelin's latest creation: Oktopus BluMoon

Linde Werdelin strengthens its lineup once more with the addition of its first Titanium Grade 5 wristwatch, available in a very limited run of 59 pieces.

The Oktopus BluMoon celebrates the brand’s coming of age by mastering an infamously challenging case material to create a stunning interplay of light reflections. The beautiful creation is a result of long hours of meticulous hand-finishing of every single facet by the most skilled artisan in Switzerland, who laboriously imprints a unique finish on each individual numbered model.

The new Titanium Grade 5 case blends satin, polished and microbillé finishing in order to accentuate the angles and facets. Light ripples through the case, crashing into the facets at the edge of its royal blue backdrop.

“This is a watch that you can explore indefinitely, because the light will always reflect a little differently,” said Morten Linde, who saw the design take shape from end to end.

The complex construction of the dial consists of five layers, conveying an immediate depth to the watch. The Oktopus BluMoon features hours, minutes and seconds, as well as Linde Werdelin’s iconic moon phase complication, mounted this time on a metallic blue rotating disc equipped with a red full-moon indicator. The photorealistic moons and perlage decorations are visible through an aperture in the open-worked dial.

The in-house developed moon phase complication originated with the launch of the first Oktopus Moon in 2010. The Oktopus BluMoon is now the fifth in the collection, after the MoonLite, the Moon Tattoo, the Moon Gold, and the Moon Black.

The backcase features a new octopus motif engraved in 3 layers, based on the hand drawing by co-founder and creative head, Morten Linde, as well as the model’s limited edition number.

The Oktopus BluMoon comes in a 44mm (w) by 46mm (l) case, and a royal blue top-grade natural rubber strap, which adds a cool twist to the design. It is available in Titanium Grade 5 from CHF 16,000 excluding VAT, in an exclusive series of 59 pieces worldwide.
