Jaeger-LeCoultre, feminine collection Honouring 180 years of watchmaking expertise

At Jaeger-LeCoultre, women have an on-going rendezvous with time. The Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux crystallises within its feminine creations the encounter between Fine Watchmaking and Fine Jewellery, dreaming up models that become an intimate part of daily life, loyal confidantes at night and faithful companions of exceptional moments. This year, the Rendez-Vous and Reverso collections are reinventing themselves in order to further enhance their appeal. Complicated, ultra-thin, mechanical: they embody a concentrated blend of creative freedom, along with the horological and hand-crafted expertise that has been guiding the history of the Grande Maison for 180 years.

Within these models, the subtly chemistry between aesthetic and technical elements remains a jealously guarded secret. All endowed with their own personality, the Rendez-Vous and Reverso new models unite mechanical complexity with the charm of a design that has been carefully thought through right down to the smallest details. Their elegance further strengthens the quest for innovation of a brand that has enriched the field of Fine Watchmaking with 400 patents and 1,242 calibres since 1833.

Rendez-Vous

The rendezvous is set, as time takes on its true dimension, duly admired and appreciated, intensely experienced on a personal daily level. Responding to its invitation to join its graceful dance come the subtle relief of a delicate guilloché pattern, the shining feathers, the perfection of a perpetual calendar or the beauty of a tourbillon. Fascinating as much in terms of their supreme mechanisms as of their Art Deco inspired design, three new models enrich a collection that became instantly iconic at the time of its launch in 2011. They are in direct line from the amazing Rendez-Vous Celestial watch, a tribute to the Rare Crafts cultivated within the Manufacture and presented at the latest edition of the SIHH.

Rendez-Vous Perpetual Calendar

Bringing eternity within reach, the Rendez-Vous Perpetual Calendar displays infinite time. Powered by an automatic movement, Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 868, visible through the sapphire crystal case-back, it reveals the complexity on its dial with impressive natural grace. The pure design combines classical elements with the aesthetic inspiration of the Grande Maison, all within a 37.5 mm diameter and while ensuring optimal readability.

Swept over by the hour, minute and central seconds hands, three counters are dedicated to displaying the perpetual calendar indications: the day of the week at 9 o’clock, the date at 3 o’clock and the month at 6 o’clock. The number of the year in progress appears through a window at 7 o’clock, while the 12 o’clock moon-phase subdial crowning the perpetual calendar lends a delightful sense of visual balance.

Delicately grained and guilloché-worked with a sunburst motif, the silver-toned dial is lit up by a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds. In keeping with the aesthetic of the collection, the pink gold case side is also rimmed with diamonds extending all the way to the lugs, a detail that gracefully accentuates the profile of the watch. A crown set with an inverted diamond enables simple and smooth handling of all the temporal indications: a single adjustment moves the perpetual calendar one day forwards, while the rest of the information relating to the Gregorian calendar is automatically adjusted. The mechanism naturally takes account of the unequal length of the months and requires no manual adjustment until March 1st 2100.

The perpetual calendar is useful year-round and represents a truly functional complication that meets the practical needs of daily living. For women, who generally love to keep control of time on a day-to-day basis, the Rendez-Vous Perpetual Calendar offers a chance to make it truly their own. In this respect, the perpetual calendar may well be considered as the quintessential feminine complication.

Rendez-Vous Tourbillon Night & Day

The gaze is naturally drawn both to the hypnotic motion of the tourbillon and to the gracefully revolving day/night indication. While the hours and minutes move steadily by, time is also expressed through these additional complications.

Cultivating the legacy of the Rendez-Vous Tourbillon models presented in previous years, the new Rendez-Vous Tourbillon Night & Day has opted to free its chapter ring from the standard separations between the 1930s inspired numerals so as to give pride of place to the complications. The dial features an exquisitely poetic guilloché motif that reinforces the contemporary femininity of the model. The central, delicately ribbed guilloché pattern subtly evokes the ripple of wild silk. Thus adorned and framed by a diamond-studded bezel, the dial provides a worthy backdrop for the tourbillon device at 6 o’clock featuring a case with a new and lighter bridge as well as the night and day indication at 12 o’clock provided by a hand that creates a fascinating depth of field. The powdered gilded dots in the centre punctuate the radiant feminine elegance of this model.

The mechanical automatic movement, Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 978C, reveals its Fine Watchmaking finishes through the 39 mm-diameter sapphire crystal case-back, adorned with a row or diamonds circling the case. The 22-carat gold oscillating weight travels gracefully to and fro above the circular-grained, hand-drawn and decorated bridges embellished with a Côtes de Genève motif.

Rendez-Vous Tourbillon Wild

The Rare Crafts cultivated within the Grande Maison have always done their utmost to exalt the beauty of the hours displayed on its watches. Mingling their skills, pushing the borders of creativity and technical refinement, they have presided over the birth of models on which time appears to stand still. The new Rendez-Vous Wild invites several of these time-honoured manual crafts to unite their talents in generating emotions...
