Description

In reaction to the surge in demand for ivory, especially from the Asian markets, the ‘Tears of The African Elephant’ charity, founded by two Japanese women, has at its heart the objective of promoting amongst the Japanese public, the dangers facing the livelihood of the African Elephant.

With the official support and endorsement of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Cambridge, Backes & Strauss has crafted two very special timepieces. The dial of this timepiece is in gold and all the iconographic leaves have been hand- engraved and enameled by the ‘Grand Feu’ technique. Similarly to its counterpart, the tusk is enamelled and the rest of the dial is set with Backes & Strauss signature Ideal -Cut diamonds. The eye of the elephant is a round Brilliant-Cut emerald from which appears a teardrop made of gold.

This special timepiece is set within the Backes & Strauss iconic oval-shaped dial, the Regent and features two rows of diamonds.
