Official description

Tempus Fugit is an ode to the passing of time and an incentive to materialise one's ambitions and dreams.

The fruit of an exceptional encounter between representatives of the medical, scientific and watchmaking worlds - Dr. Benoît Dubuis, President of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, Dominique Renaud, a renowned designer, and Julien Tixier, an independent watch prototypist.

Are we not all surprised by the passing of time? And when we realise this, is it not too late to undertake our most intimate projects? Tempus Fugit is here to remind us of this by integrating a unique complication, a power reserve of one's own life, allowing us to visualise our own personal life expectancy, not the population's, but the personal one. The mechanism visualising the life reserve is based on personal indications provided to an algorithm which integrates the latest scientific advances on risk, notably from the environment, physiology and genomics.

This remarkable timepiece is the result of the exceptional expertise of the watchmakers who designed and integrated the most complex Secular Perpetual Calender taking into account 4, 100 and 400 years, with a counter displaying the years up to 9999.

It is also the most compact Secular Perpetual Calender designed to date. The entire multi-millennial calculator is housed in a suspended mobile.

The watchmaking know-how is expressed both in the finishing applied to each element and in this module, which is only 8.3 mm in diameter and 1.85 mm high, and comprises no fewer than 51 components.

This system provides a perpetual dimension. In addition to the finishing touches and watch complications, the movement houses a chip that contains the holder's DNA but also a secret message that is only revealed at the end of the life reserve.

There is no fatalism in this complication that calls us to account for the reserve of life, but rather a call to action and an intimate conviction that the awareness of the passage of time is an encouragement to self-realisation, to the affirmation of the meaning of our life and to the call of our commitment to change the world.

The piece was entirely designed and crafted in the heart of the Vallée de Joux.
