Baselworld 2016: Heritage Minute Repeater - Perfect harmony

Harmonious watch-making creations: the new Minute Repeaters presented in Corum's Heritage collection will make themselves heard. The first plays a chord that chimes when four hammers hit the four gongs.

The second combines a minute repeater with a majestic tourbillon amid an abundance of baguette-cut diamonds. Without a dial, these exceptional time keepers reveal their exclusive mechanism in a new rose gold case measuring 41 mm in diameter.

The Heritage collection is a pillar of the Corum brand. An expression of its exceptional technical savoir-faire and rich, timeless creativity, this range features audacious watches equipped with fascinating watch-making complications and magnified by the most beautiful works of art and sparkling jewels. The two new Minute Repeaters presented this year have continued the Corum tradition for excellence; which has defined the history of Corum for more than 60 years. Presented in a new, classic, round 41 mm case, the sumptuous movement and sparkling jewels take center stage.

Major chord

Inspired by the world-first "Acoustica" unveiled by Corum in 2012, the Heritage Minute Repeater model is a real achievement of watch-making. Its minute repeater mechanism, which is one of the most challenging complications, is also equipped with four gongs and four hammers, two of which strike simultaneously. This exceptional feature produces a melodious chord (do-mi-sol-do) instead of a single note. The two lowest gongs, do for the hours and mi for the minutes, are positioned at the back of the movement. the highest, sol for the hours and a higher-octave do for the minutes, on the top. Chiming together on the top and bottom of the watch. These gongs are as harmonious as they are perfectly audible. Working with the help of a trigger on the side of the case, the striking mechanism also features its own barrel in order to guarantee a constant supply of energy to the movement.

Dazzling brilliance

A fusion of watch-making craftsmanship and fine jewelery, the Heritage Minute Repeater Tourbillon watch is a sparkling demonstration of Corum's watch-making expertise and creativity. Its particularly challenging minute repeater mechanism is paired with a remarkable tourbillon, both of which are enhanced by thirty-six of the purest baguette-cut diamonds set in the bezel.

Exclusive movements

These rare and precious time-keepers are powered by two manually wound calibres, exclusive to Corum. Fitted with a power reserve of 100 hours, they beat at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. These movements are housed in a 41 mm 18 carat waterproof case. Their exceptional mechanism is revealed on the display, where the absence of a dial highlights the sophisticated manual workmanship, beneath the delicate golden hands. This clarity is echoed in the sapphire depths of the case, revealing two of the Heritage Minute Repeater's four acoustic rings. This model is equipped with a CO102 calibre with functions for the hours, minutes, and a minute repeater with four hammers. As for the Heritage Minute Repeater Tourbillon model, it is equipped with a CO010 with features for the hours, minutes, small second hand, minute repeater with two gongs and tourbillon.

The new Minute Repeaters from the Heritage collection portray a classic elegance enhanced by a brown alligator leather strap with a rose gold tongue buckle.
